- Sliced fish soup. Seafood soup, topped with fried egg floss reminded me of why I enjoyed this dish originally. Seng Kee #02-50 does this very well. $5 for a mixed fried/slice fish soup bowl👍🏼
- Roast meats. Very old-school serving from Ling Heng Roasted Meat #02-05. Messy presentation, muted flavours from meats, gravy & chilli sauce. Lots of bones in roasted duck. Complimentary chicken soup
- Char kway teow (fried flat rice noodles). Yummy rendition from Fong Sheng 02-13. Sweet wet style. Lots of taugeh (beansprouts). 'Wok hei' (smokiness) and 'la pok' (fried pork lard cube) not detected
- Fishball noodles. Enjoyed an above average bowl from Lai Hin Fishball Kuey Teow Mee #02-11. Generous ingredients ($4.50 upsized instead of $3.50). Yummy “her giao” (fish dumplings). Expect long queues
- Ban mian (handmade egg noodles). 兰香面粉粿•板面 #02-06 prepares soup-only bowls. Soup is light yet savoury. Long queues during workday lunchtime
- Ivy LaiDecember 8, 2015The ban mian #02-06 gave quite a generous amount of ingredients for the amount of $3. The food here is relatively cheap and nice. 👍
- Nice hand-made noodle from 兰香 (stall no. #02-37). Soup is tasty & the minced meat very tender. Expect long queue during lunch time.
- Ban Mian. Kung Fu Noodles #02-32 serves the KL-style, with minced pork, vege, ikan bilis. Available in soup & dry. Enjoyed my tasty & aromatic dry serving
- Lor Mee. The serving from Soon Huat #02-18 is above average. Enjoyed the generous amount of ingredients, including the crispy bits
- Kopi brewed with espresso machine ($1.90). Star Coffee #02-22 follows footsteps of Kopi More @ Beach Road Food Centre. A slight premium but not as aromatic. Available as kaya toast set too ($3.20)
- Authorities have installed the Big Ass fans (or alternatives) at this food centre. Makes dining very comfortable, especially during lunchtime
- Chicken rice. Nan Heng #02-28 serves old school Hainanese chicken rice. Simple, clean, not overly flavoured. Order with vegetables to complete ur meal
- Sugarcane juice. I get my fix from Sea Lai Hong #02-17. Sweet, fresh, ice-cold. Stall operator is also jovial
- Economic rice (chai png). Affordable — this plate $4.40 Unimpressed by dishes selected from Hup Heng #02-07. While they have a wide range, but meats tasted tough. Could do w more flavour
- Char kway teow (fried flat rice noodles): Somehow, after eating a $3 portion fr Night Day #02-29, the missing ingredient is their 'wok hei' (breath of wok). Couldn't sense it @ all :-(
- 脇 杰倫August 19, 2013I like that Soon Huat stall Lor Mee at #02-18, Price very cheap only $2.50 somemore that uncle also selling Prawn Mee & Laksa only $2.50
- I LOVE THE CHAR KWAY TEOW (right at the back) but $2 is more than enough. Also the chicken rice next door is awesome, the auntie is lovely and the uncle so patient and nice for hawkers :D
- Chai tow kway (fried carrot cake): CTK fr Lim Kee #02-49 tasted lifeless in my mouth. It looks messily prepared as well :-(
- Try the Bak Kut Tea store! The pig's leg is nice & soft. It melts in your mouth. The uncle in the stall knows I don't like dark sauce :)
- Raymond KohSeptember 19, 2013The hainanese chicken rice right at the back near th small salon is th best
