- Fried carrot cake (chai tau kueh): Njoyed my serving fr Geylang Trad Carrot Cake #01-34. They even threw in real carrots (orange ones), chai por, n chopped garlic to fry!!! Yum!
- Seafood noodles. Hock Heng #01-42 serves this unique combo, starting from $4. Fishballs, sliced fish & prawns. Noodles tossed in sesame oil. I felt too much MSG being used; my tongue felt numb after
- Thai Food from Chok Dee #01-67. Sampled pad thai $5, as well as fried basil pork with rice & egg $6. Decent meals. Pad thai was slightly dry, so i’ll remember to request for a wetter fry next time
- Hainanese curry rice. Affordable plate from Uncle Lor Mee #01-70 (fried egg, braised cabbages & pork chop $3.30). Meat looked perfectly breaded; I’d imagine it’s from the frozen section. Clumpy rice
- Slice fish soup. Hong Yun #01-53 serves a clean & generous bowl. For $4, I got 7 thick slices of fish, lots of vege. Yam rice was a nice change – aromatic & filled with actual yam bits
- Nasi lemak. It is not obvious that Tribesman tetel #01-47 sells this. All items are ala carte, including ikan bilis & peanuts. Sambal chilli is more spicy than sweet. This serving $4.80
- Travis TeoMay 5, 2013Satay bagus! One of the best in town. By Chinese couple. Open on Thu to Sun night. Morning selling mi Chiam Kueh. 168 wanton mee, chicken rice, shidai prawn noodles also very good
- Chongqing-style noodles. Interesting noodles from Da Shao #01-81. His minced meat noodles were aromatic. U can hv it mala (numbing spicy), with peas or no chilli
- Vegetarian options: specialty vegetarian, chai tow kway, chwee kueh, chee cheong fun, yam cake, tahu goreng, lontong, local desserts, beancurd, bread & pastries, fruits, yutiao, peanut pancake
- Penang Fried Kway Teow. Stall by the same name at #01-08 sees slow-moving queues. Chef prepares small batches. Average-tasting plate. $4 gets u 3 mid-sized prawns
- Sweet mixed beans soup ($1.60). Light dessert from Lit Lit #01-45. Mix of red beans & green beans. Pleasant hints of orange peel
- Breakfast bee hoon. Enjoyed the lightly-flavoured fried noodles. Stir-fried cabbage was the crunchy style (not stewed to a mush). Wallet-friendly; this combo $2.10
- Mee Siam. Tampines Mee Siam #01-56 sells its namesake for $3 a bowl. The gravy at lunchtime was overly thick. Generous portions although I felt stuffed towards the end
- Coffee: We tried stalls recommended here on 4SQ & by locals. Our choice: De Hua #01-74. Their concoction had a rounded bitter taste. Somehow it tasted silky in d mouth :-) N no sour aftertaste. Ding!
- Wantan mee $3.50. Noodles from 早到熟食 #01-78 were the overcooked type, with a starchy coating. Not my favourite. Char siew (BBQ pork) was also chopped up. Some saving grace from fried yet light wantans
- Fried kway teow. Woks of Taste #01-40 giving the other CKT stalls here a run for your money. Wet & sweet style. Uses “la pok”. Not enough “wok hei”. Tasty but lingering MSG. This plate $4.50
- Economy rice. Tasty, home style dishes from Mixed Veg Rice Porridge #01-19. $4 for this plate for 2 veges , 1 meat; slightly pricier
- Braised duck rice. A plate from #01-57 was average-tasting, with the occasional tough-to-chew cuts. Generous portion for $3.50

- Economy rice ('chai png'). Home-style cooking from Ah Mei Xiao Chu Mixed Veg Rice Porridge #01-19. Decent selection of dishes. My rice portion was clumpy. This serving $4, pricey
- Chicken rice. The better tasting meats are from Xin Kee #01-20. And generous too! Soup comes with vegetable bits
- Wantan noodles. Decent bowl from 168 Wanton Noodles #01-58. Her wantans have bits of carrot which added colour & crunch
- Hainanese Curry Rice. The pork chop from Thong Thye #01-31 is thick. $3.50 with egg, cabbage & rice. Curry gravy was aromatic but not spicy
- Muah chee (glutinous peanut-coated snack). Surprisingly, the snack is sold at Tampines Mee Siam #01-56. Decent $1.50 serving. Missing the aroma of shallot oil
- Mi chiam kueh (local peanut pancake): Found a stall similar 2 pancakes sold in Penang: small, crispy edges, avail in several fillings (peanut, corn, coconut, red bean paste,...) Lim Kee #01-55
- Buns: Freshly-baked, piping-hot buns @ stall #01-65. Plenty of filling choices: or-nee (lotus paste), tau-sar (red bean paste), curry, otah (fish sausage), normal sausages
- Fishball noodles: Tried every stall. 2 notable ones: #01-48 operated by old couple (thin Ipoh-style kuay teow, handmade fishballs), & #0-10 (tasty, bouncy fishballs)
- Prawn noodles: Stall #01-21 Kim Seah serves them piping hot! Soup is light yet tasty. Ask 4 pork lard chips if u wanna be sinful ;-)
