    Everybody was very polite and nice, there was a line, but its understandable - 1 consulate in tristate area and lots of russian immigrants. Overall experience is great.

    When applying for a visa to russia make your exit date as late as allowed rather then when you are actally planning.. Easier then extending, just in case..

    For foreigners there is a drop off and pick up line, both on the foreigner (west) side cage area. Be aggressive but polite to the doorman or you'll never get in. This ain't a numbered deli.

    1+ hour line outside in 15 degree weather to pick up your passport as they won't mail them like every other consulate, even Russian ones in other US cities. Horrible.

    They will make you stand outside in rain. Also, its pretty much impossible to be acknowledged by the doorman unless you speak russian. Then at least he will be rude to you.

    If you get here before they open (9:30am) sign your name on the sheet of paper by the door.

    Service is much better actually comparing to an awful experience 10 years ago. But nevertheless you will spend at least 15 minutes in the line outside of the building, tovarisch ;)

    Оформление нотариальной доверенности осложнилось только вначале - пришлось каждый день мониторить свободные места, но в итоге место нашлось. Все сотрудники были предельно вежливы и профессиональны.

    Внимательно читайте информацию на сайте... Очень поможет. Мани одер делайте заранее, можно и в своем городе в почтовом отделении... потом не будете бегать искать почту. Остерегайтесь старушек. ;-)

    При посещении консульства России в Нью-Йорке, занимайте очередь сразу во все очереди. Если записаны на прием, не надо стоять в "хвосте", прорывайтесь улыбаясь к охраннику (у него список посетителей).
