- Bre RozApril 14, 2015Feeling out of place? Just act like you belong, and don't be rude. But, by all means, don't carry a fresh pizza down the street here. You'll make friends quicker than is comfortable.
- Wilson Favre-DelerueSeptember 1, 2016Dodgy, unsafe and dirty... yet packed with great little ethnic restaurants. Stay vigilant, be safe and know when to make a swift exit.
- You know this area is crazy and sketchy and a little dangerous. You also know its where the heart of the city is, and good culture and wonderful food and some really nice people. Be safe...
- Kimberly AllenOctober 27, 2013Don't stay too long, most crime ridden area in San Fran, quick drive through, encountered district by accident....
- lino brescia™March 25, 2017Heartbreaking to see this in a city that is so amazing. Stay away. Seediest of areas.
- "There’s nothing tender about that motherfucker at all, that shit was rough, the opposite of tender. " - Dave Chappelle. Lol
- keep an eye on the ground or you may step in dog shit, although i wouldn't be surprised if it's human shit.
- Act like you know where you are. 1st of the month is always "crackin". End of the month, different story. You shouldn't walk with your head down, but how else do you avoid the shit on the sidewalks.
- Where else can you find cool bars and clubs just a block away from hookers, pimps and several guys yelling angrily at the world.
- Looks scarier than it really is, lots of good restaurants, pretty much one of my favorite places in SF.
- Mind yours and most will mind theirs. It's as simple as that.
- Land of the cray-crays!!! An open psyche ward, drug dealing and consumption on most corners. shameful!
- Ben CoffeeJanuary 19, 2014Some streets are worse than others. Don't make eye contact with panhandlers. Enjoy :)
- I've lived here for 2 months & despite the homelessness, drugs, & sketchy atmosphere I don't feel threatened at all. It would be better without these but rent is actually affordable for the location.
- Definitely an interesting place to people watch and attempt to decipher the relationships between the locals.
- Keep aware of what's around you. Don't panic & don't do or buy drugs here & you'll be fine.
- If You need an AA meeting, try First Place at 410 Ellis and Jones.
- Keep your head down, your purse close and your eyes peeled. I love the TL!
- Payton RissmanFebruary 7, 2013Avoid ofarrell and larkin at night. Unless you want drugs, or want to be hit on by a random homeless.
- Calum SteeleMarch 23, 2013Personally wouldn't advise walking down here At unless you're armed or know what you're doing, very sketchy area....
- Ali FlammMay 16, 2012People seem to be sketched out on this neighborhood too much. Keep ONE hand deep in your pocket (no one knows what you have in there) and your head held high. No one will mess with you.
- TeaBellyOctober 12, 2019Every city seems to have one of these, an area full of mental health drug addicts, riddled with crime. Some seem to enjoy it, I would suspect the majority, do not.
- Matt I.June 29, 2014I love my neighborhood. The TL is the last vestige of a disappearing City that I came to love years ago.
- Be nice to the trannies. They have good taste in shoes!
- Luis ShimabukuroAugust 25, 2014Bairro no centro de SF, onde concentra um monte de lojas e restaurantes!
