Landmarks Preservation CommissionJuly 26, 2013Designed by Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Williams and built in 1806. The star-shaped walls of the fort were inspired by those built by the French military. It was designated a City landmark in 1967.

Courtyard open daily 10 AM until 4:00 PM. Weekends tours every hour from 11:30 AM till 3:30 PM. About 30 minutes, meet at the Fort Jay bridge. Fortify your mind! Tour one of the best examples of classic star-shaped fort design anywhere in the country, including the oldest structure on the island
