This restaurant-bar gets everything right: Mediterranean bites from chef Kris Morningside, great cocktails like the Far (east) Manhattan, and outdoor seating next to LACMA's street light installation.

I used to recommend cocktails here. Who doesn't love getting slightly tipsy and wandering through modern art? However, they've revamped the cocktail menu to be much shorter, with cheap spirits at $15

The breakfast pizza is ridiculously good. Studded with ham and caramelized onions, topped with a soft poached egg, I wish I was eating it right now.

Cool weather offerings might include his haute version of a chile relleno: a poblano pepper, charred to black, stuffed with zippy housemade venison chorizo, and napped in a suave corn sauce.

Sit at the bar, the pre prohibition cocktails are a specialty of the bartenders here. Also midweek they will let you sample all the scotch you want, if you play nice!

Good for a small nosh or small plate sharing: bread, olives, cheese. And the bread is really quite excellent.
