- Jennifer HaackOctober 11, 2014I took Bolt from DC to NYC and return. Great experience! I had a super neat Greyhound bus on both trips. Leather seats, sockets, foot rest, functioning wifi. Comfort far exceeded my expectations!
- @JaumePrimeroJuly 4, 2012Three codes: A,B,C. A boards first! Book early for the best prices, and don't worry contrary to comments posted there is a bathroom on the bus! The trip is approx. 4 hours. Bring snacks!
- Amy CummingsApril 1, 2017Everything is pretty clearly labeled. Only thing is there's no overhang area so if it's raining you and your luggage will get drenched while you wait for the bus.
- DevontaNovember 15, 2014Walked from Penn Station 11th Ave. It's cold and out of the way. Bundle up. Love the buses though.
- Ian BarryJanuary 18, 2012I regularly have very positive experiences with Bolt Bus. I would recommend the service to people traveling between dc and boston who travel midday. Otherwise megabus has an overnight, direct bus.
- Alexandre NguyenMay 6, 2013There tends to be tourists on the line who don't understand that seating takes place in sections. Respect the line. But respect the sections too. You paid for it!
- Abi PanickerJanuary 12, 2015Short walk from Penn, food cart close by, ask the staff if you are confused where to stand, lines can go in both directions
- Ralph ConservaDecember 5, 2013Great new spot, much easier to get onto the West Side highway, regardless of it not being near a major station!
- Take the A,C,E train in NYC and it brings u to the corner of the stop. U can also take the 1,2,3 train but u'll have to walk a block as it drops u off at 34 & 7 ave.
- Sarom eOApril 30, 2013show up 30 minutes before departure - yes including the snobby A-class passengers. stay in your seat until the bus departs or risk losing your seat! I've seen it happen. and please no hot foods!
- Drivers run the gamut: some are nice, some are grumpy, some are total dicks. Just be patient and respectful. I've seen drivers masterfully handle blizzards and heavy traffic. Give 'em a break.
- Pro tip: Screenshot your ticket before you get here, as cell service can be kinda finicky with lots of people in the vicinity.
- Adam CernyNovember 23, 2014Bolt Bus consistently has nice working outlets in every seat. This is a huge plus for us who use our phones way too much.
- Ryan WianckoFebruary 20, 2014If they are short on buses they will sometimes use greyhound buses so make sure to look out for bolt bus drivers standing in front of greyhound buses or else they'll leave without you
- Get here EARLY to line up...if you register online and buy early you can get ticket discounts and "A" status so you can board first ;-)
- Leo GonzalesApril 24, 2015overall, good value. you might lose the WiFi signal depending on where you are, though.
- Close GitmoJanuary 11, 2012Jan 11 (right now!!): the National Day of Action Against Guantanamo & the NDAA! Join us at 1130 in Lafayette Square across from the White House. The program and march will run from Noon-2:30pm EST
- Thomas ChalifourJuly 27, 2011Best bus service in NYC. Sign up online to get an 'A' ticket...also after 8 trips or so, you get a free ticket! Not bad!
- MoodFebruary 27, 2014Book online early, cheap ride, check plug-ins at your seat before sitting down, good service overall!!
- Isa GDecember 13, 2013Not all seats have outlets, or working outlets so be sure to get there early to get a good seat!
- The A,C, & E train in NYC will take u to the station. The 1,2,3 is the alternative but u have to walk a block to 8 ave as it drops u off at 34 & 7 ave.
- Koreans need to watch out for the old white-haired man who'll give you a sob story about being short cash for bus fare to DC. He'll claim he's a professor that overslept & missed the bus. It's a scam!
- Dahvi ShiraNovember 29, 2011Comfy seats, non-sketchy passengers, a little pit-stop for food halfway thru. Definitely gets two thumbs up from me.
- Carisa DaquinoOctober 3, 2011Great thus far. Mr George, the driver, rules! Leather seats, clean, has a bathroom, and wifi. Sweet!
- If you don't get an A ticket, you're doomed. Also they tell you to line up against the building, but you have a better chance waiting along the curb.
- Coupon SherpaMarch 9, 2011Check their website to take advantage of their first-come, first-serve policy, which can sometimes score you a seat for a dollar! Read more
- New York Guest Tourism ServicesDecember 29, 2010Welcome to NYC! New York Guest is just around the corner and can help you get a room, Broadway ticket, sightseeing voucher and more! Call 212-302-4019 or stop by for special discounts!
- Buses are usually on time...our driver had us make 3 lines for a, b, and c group if tickets. Very good ride and cheap, too.
- Lucy MuryJuly 24, 2012Be prepared to wait. It's hit or miss whether or not your bus is on time; regardless, a very smooth ride to DC.
- Buying online is easy, but doesn't guarantee 'A' seating. What it does do is lets you board any bus on the same route at about the right time, even if you're 2 hours late getting there.
- Danielle BorschMay 26, 2011The bus is clean with nice seats and easy power access, but it was 15 minutes late picking us up and over an hour late to our destination. Don't use it if timing is important on your trip.
- Delaney PageFebruary 14, 2013Buy early if traveling for a convention. There will be a lot of extra travelers on such days with the same transportation ideas as you.
- Great clean bus with free wifi and it stops around midtown in NYC. Take the early bus or late to avoid NY traffic
- Sakheni DlaminiApril 7, 2013Great way to travel...stress free...and I can get work done while I'm at it.
- Whits EndJune 19, 2014If you value your life you might avoid @BoltBus... My driver is on the phone, texting, shuffling papers, reading schedules, and swerving across lanes at 70mph. BoltBus needs to conduct driver reviews
- Alexis HolzerFebruary 20, 2013Always plan your trip around rush hour and leave on a weekday. Less traffic and more seating!
- An XiaoApril 29, 2010Arrived early? If it's a nice day, sit across the street in front of Borders. No point in getting in line; it all goes to mush once the driver arrives.
- Katie AllenJanuary 20, 2014It's harder to get to this spot by foot, but it's easier to get on the bus. Particularly on the correct bus. Wish more taxis would congregate around here.
- r t.January 3, 2013They'll call out A tickets 1st. Then total chaos ensues. Stand as close to the door as possible to get a good seat.

- If your computer or other electronic device has a 3-prong plug, get a 2-prong adapter if you want to use BoltBus's outlets.
- Nathaniel EmodiMarch 28, 2011In my experience there is usually 1-3 standby seats available, which is useful if you don't have a ticket or want to catch an earlier bus.
- Constance HowesAugust 13, 2011Try to get tix early and be in the A group otherwise - even if you buy advance online tix - you're relegated to standby w the people paying cash and it's kinda frustrating.
- Cecilia BogardusNovember 24, 2010Nice, clean but they DONT care about your seat number! So you better be quick unless you want to sit near the toilet!
