- Sarah OFebruary 10, 2016Always a wait and super crowded inside. Bringing a coat or a big purse? Good luck finding space for that. But... ramen is pretty good. Add kimchi!
- Get the Tonkotsu w/ pork belly, egg, and and chilli paste! If you pay $2 extra you can get the real pork broth (otherwise it's diluted with chicken broth)
- Sarah LizFebruary 8, 2014Great ramen noodles. I'm still partial to Katanaya but I did enjoy the flavor and the freshness of the ingredients. Let your bowl sit for a minute for your soup to cook everything nicely.
- Crystal LAugust 16, 2015Not the most traditional ramen, adds spinach and mushrooms, but delicious all the same. Try the spicy soy sauce ramen with chashu. Gets busy after 11:45am on weekdays with a waiting list for lunch.
- Chris LeeSeptember 5, 2014Good place to come if you're eating alone (since the place is tiny), hungry (since the standard ramen is filling), and/or cold (since the spicy soups will heat you up). I enjoyed the spicy miso.
- Tyee DDecember 22, 2017Tonkatsu ramen was tasty. I added red chili oil afterwards instead of risking my life with the habanero in broth.
- AFAR MediaAugust 12, 2014There is no sign on the building, but a line out the door told me that I should stick around. The spicy miso broth ramen is incredible, & I've taken to downing it all with a cup of hot barley tea. Read more
- Helio MedeirosApril 9, 2016Very good Ramen! You should try one if you're in SF. Be aware they have big lines outside:)
- Foxxy BSeptember 22, 2017The chicken gyoza is the best I've had: fresh, soft & a touch of crunch shell w/ tasty meat. The habanero broths are odd: spicy, yes, but obviously a different type of spice vs. traditional ramen.
- Sarah T.February 16, 2014Hole in the wall ramen shop, very much reminiscent on Japan. Definitely try some toppings with your choice, and extra spicy was a great touch. I tried the tonkotsu special, which was awesome!
- Jonathan EatherlyFebruary 1, 2015Spicy miso, spicy paste, spicy green onion, pork belly, and boiled egg – Best ramen of your life.
- Richard GregoryApril 17, 2015If you've not eaten ramen before, check out the wall art on the kitchen side. It teaches you how to slurp, chew and how best to enjoy your ramen!
- Dominic T.March 5, 2014Try the soy milk ramen with additional sides of tofu and chashu! Perfect balance of flavor compared to the salty miso and soy sauce soup bases.
- Mark SherwinJune 12, 2013Found this place during Fleet Week! Just like Japan! Fast, tasty, and in a small venue. Wouldn't recommend bring large groups but an intimate one on one is ideal.
- Tom CoatesSeptember 17, 2016Really good! Had the pork miso katsu bowl with extra chicken dumplings and an egg. Really good.
- best ramen in my life! took salt ramen spicy with extra kimchy
- Stephanie MeachamApril 22, 2013Delicious miso ramen. Crammed seating. Cash only. No beer/wine available (even though prices are written in chalk on the wall). Super popular place with a bizarre atmosphere. I'd go again.
- Good place for lunch, but come early. The Tonkatsu Miso Ramen is my favorite. Add one of their hard-boiled eggs for extra texture.
- Jon B.April 22, 2017Best ramen in the Fi Di. Busy at lunch, but they do a nice job getting people in and out.
- Caro SchieferMarch 30, 2017Great and fresh food. Service is very fast. Always full so better go either early or late for lunch.
- Five stars, would slurp again. 🍜 Ask them to make the veggie ramen spicy and throw in some corn and green onions, and you'll feast like crazed ramen overlord.
- William MayaMarch 1, 2016This is the most delicious Ramen I've eaten in San Francisco. Great place for Vegetarians!!
- joanneJanuary 6, 2012very good basic ramen. toppings are sparse. the perfect soft-boiled egg is worth the extra $1; the thinly sliced yet strangely chewy chashu pork is not. shio is very rich, if you likeit that way.
- My favorite ramen in the city. I always get spicy miso broth and add an egg + chashu. Hits the spot every time
- Ethan ChenFebruary 28, 2013The wood things on the wall states 800 yen for a bowl of ramen (which is the average price in Japan) but at $8 for a bowl, that's an exchange rate of 1:100 which is a huge bargain :)
- The new location across the street is much bigger! I like that the ramen here is customizable. I always add the dumplings!
- Tony EdwardsMay 8, 2013Worth the wait and the screwed up orders! Get the Spicy Miso w/ Pork Belly, Corn & Soft Boiled Egg!
- Hyounil ChoiApril 14, 2017It was one of the best comparing other ramen including Japan. Little bit more oily than Japanese one but I like it.
- Mike SolodovnichenkoMay 6, 2017Huge affordable portions of tasty ramen. Got glass of water for free, recommend.
- Paul CunninghamJuly 15, 2015The tonkotsu is good with chashu. The spicy miso was incredible! Kimchi is a nice addition. Wish egg was soft boiled.
- Pradeep GollakotaApril 15, 2014Omg... so good... like so many others have suggested. Spicy Miso with Soft Boiled Egg. Add some Tofu, Spicy Green Onions, and corn. YUM
- Jeff Cutler™August 24, 2013BYOB! It's the best deal in town. Usually just $1 per person for a six-pack, $5 per bottle of wine.
- Rami IsmailMarch 26, 2018Ramen without pork broth makes this one of the few ramen places I can enjoy, and gosh, it's a good ramen place.
- Spicy Miso Ramen with Corn and either Chashu or Braised Pork Belly!
- They have the most edible vegetarian broth in the city. Bonus: It's MSG-free.
- Thomas ChungOctober 25, 2014There is a vegetable broth (specifically stated with no meat product) here that is delicious. I recommend adding the boiled egg.
- Hien VoJanuary 9, 2014Soy sauce broth with spicy green onions. It was delicious! Don't forget to bring cash! (This place only accepts cash! 😊)
- Soy milk ramen! Tonkatsu ramen! Avoid the tomato ramen. I tried it once out of curiosity and it was a mistake.
- Go alone. You won't have any trouble finding a seat and can play on your phone the entire time. The Spicy Miso is also a Win!
- Scott BNovember 10, 2013Tonkatsu ramen with an extra boiled egg is outstanding! Broth is very rich and flavorful. All for about $12.
- Aaron WheelerMay 14, 2014The vegetarian broth with corn and green onions is so good! Add some pepper flakes and you're GTG!
- My go to ramen spot during work hours. Easy solo place to go slurp some noodles in peace.
- They have started using chicken pieces in their ramen and are using chicken for making the broth as well. Pork was the better option so it's disappointing but YMMV.
- Max Blue 🚴🍔October 1, 2013pretty tiny but pretty awsome. try spicy miso ramen with an soft boiled egg. emphasis on spicy. soooo delicious.
- Soy milk ramen has a nuttier flavor than before, which isn't bad but different. Tsukemen ramen's broth is okaaay. Good ramen noodles though.
- David StraussFebruary 22, 2014Habanero broth. It's often off menu, but it's always available. You can also order two of any topping.
- Chipper NicodemusJune 20, 2013They have actual vegetarian ramen! Add some tofu and spicy green onion.
- So good! I cleaned my bowl. Get salty ramen with extra boiled egg. I hear spicy ramen is -really- spicy :)
- Soy milk base is very good. They are way stingy with the ingredients though. Even when you order the extra meat.
