The pastrami Reuben, griddled with sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and Russian dressing is everything it should be at Wise Sons. That translates to pink with smoke, a little fatty, and seriously appetizing. Read more
Nothing compared to NYC but still a good joint for your fix. Had the salmon bagel open faced and definitely hit the spot, side mixed salad was light yet tasty too. Will go back to try more!
Get the chicken salad if they have it on special; best ever. The corned beef: You just can't find anything as good anywhere in the West Coast! Chocolate babka worth a Seinfeld level public meltdown
Really enjoyed the pastrami. Bagels ok, but I am biased toward NY style. These are more like a dense roll, rather than crisp on the outside and chewy in the center the way I like. Good flavor, though!
Chicken soup for an alcoholic's soul: the matzoh ball soup, paired with challahtoast and a boylan's ginger ale. Slurp down and try to ignore the slabs of pastrami the size of your hand
The Wise Sons Deli menu claims that the Matzo Ball soup is "better than your Bubbies." It was...delicious. Savory broth with dill and the big ball had the consistency of polenta. Read more
Ok, I think I just had the best bagel of my life? (and I'm from the east coast!) Open faced bagel with lox is pricey but worth it, they really pile it on.
One of the best delicatessens I've visited to date. I highly suggest the Challah French Toast, which was out of this world. Fresh seasonal fruit is a great addition, too. Note: seating is limited.
Sandwiches like Rueben, Number 19, served with pastrami or corned beef. Also breakfast served all day, soup with matzo balls, challah and bagels and lox
Had an insatiable craving for pastrami and mustard after a delimovie on my flight. Wise Sons (featured in the film) delivered! Potato salad was amazing too. Will return if I find myself back in SF :)
Go for tried-and-true deli fare (matzo ball soup, pastrami sandwiches) or nouveau innovations, like the pastramicheese fries or fried kugel with syrup. Read more
it’s time to break out of the pastrami-on-rye rut and try the Reuben at Wise Sons Deli. Do the corned beef (or pastrami, if you must), melty swiss cheese, kraut, and Russian dressing on rye.
Try the legendary Wise Sons’ pastrami sandwich, the matzo brei-- which reminds many of us of Mom’s Saturday-morning version, and the swirling, rich depths of the chocolate babka: Read more
The Reuben is pretty out of this world good. The pastrami was thickly sliced and juicy. The rye bread, buttered and toasted to perfection. Downside? High cost. :(
Pastrami. Rye. challah. Matzo brei, matzo ball soup. Very mission hip & a comfy, authentic nod to the east coast deli many of us grew up on. Big portions, be warned!
Take a matzoh brei breather at this post-ironic Jewish deli where they brine their own pastrami and the walls are papered with fading Yiddish newsprint.
Aptly-named, the DeliBurger is ground beef w/ 'strami/beet-horseradish spread/spicy brown mustard on Challah. It's like the whole deli on your burger. Read more
