    【国指定重要文化財】...最盛期の寛永寺は寺域30万5千余坪、現在の上野公園のほぼ全域が寛永寺の旧境内でした。幕末の慶応4年（1868）彰義隊の戦により根本中堂をはじめ、主要な堂宇は焼失、上野戦争で焼け残り、第二次世界大戦の戦災もまぬがれた五重塔などいくつかの建築物は、現在の上野公園内に点在することとなりました。
