    James Bond is driven along the FDR southbound by his driver, who is shot by a passing driver and Bond has to weave the car through traffic until he brings it to a stop in Live and Let Die (1973).

    The FDR Drive (East River Drive) starts north of the Battery Park Underpass and runs the length of the East River to 125th St/Robert F. Kennedy Bridge exit, where it becomes the Harlem River Drive.

    Avoid at all costs today. President Obama will be in town today starting at 5 uptown. They have closed most of the streets and the fwy is backed up for miles. The streets are your best bet.

    If it’s raining (even a little bit) plan your trip accordingly. This Highway ALWAYS slows down significantly in the rain (not to mention snow, sleet etc.).

    Finally not driving on there so now I can leave a tip lol. I personally like the FDR until I hit the exit to take the Ed Koch-too many potholes!

    It's a major thoroughfare. There can be a lot of traffic. It runs through the city.

    Going north the traffic gets better once u hit exit 19 Then it gets bad again exit 23. On south side Traffic gets bad when you hit 130th st until about the 59th st bridge story of my life every day

    This is horrible!! Every freaking day southbound @ around 5, I've tries the west side but its also jammed PLUS a bunch of lights starting 60th street... NYC traffic SUCKS!!!!
