- Forget the chain coffee bars here and go to Tutti Frutti in the old Brunel Arcade part of the station. Really great coffee there, and top notch service too. The ice cream is amazingUpvoted Feb 22

I love the redesign. On a warm, dry day it is lovely but if cold, windy or wet you have to huddle behind a pillar to stay warm on the platform. There are a few waiting rooms but bit out of the way
You can bag massive discounts on long distance on-the-day fares by asking for a rail-sail ticket.Just choose a via station as your destination.Tickets are anytime & will cap your costs at around £60.
Tutti Frutti does nice coffee and cake if you have some time spare before your train
PhilAugust 10, 2018There’s a full sized M&S Food a two minute walk away from the main station entrance that’s cheaper and much bigger than what’s in the station.
Avoid the West Cornwall Pasty shop before 11am as they have a seriously tempting crusty Bacon Roll for only £1 which I find irresistible with real HP sauce too!- If you're travelling to London sit in first class. They never check and even if they do they only ask you to move or pay the extra. It's great!!
New ticket office is on the Caversham side, town side passengers have to use the old ticket office well away from the passenger footbridge.
Badly thought out passenger movement layout, trains either late or delayed with little chance of getting a seat. Might be a new station, but all the problems of old remain! Enjoy!

AlexJuly 2, 2012Make sure you go to the loo before you get to the station, as the toilets in the station cease to exist when you get to the platform. Although train toilets can be fun to master Aswell!
Needs somewhere to get a fresh cooked bacon roll rather than the cold then reheated ones which are completely shyte!
MadaDecember 4, 2022Big and wonderful station - it’s well connected to the rest of England and you can get to Gatwick
Beware you may have a long walk. This station is huge. There are lifts and elevators.- Early start and no place to get a hit drink and breakfast unless you’re going to queue for 5 minutes

Bagel shop near the entrance to the station - £1.99 for a cream cheese one or £1.50 for peanut butter. Cheap and tasty!!
Cafe Ritazza next to platform 4&5 have the most awesome chocolate and orange brownies. Gooey and everything!- Nice coffee and friendly service at the West Cornwall Pasty Company. Obviously nice pasties too.

The guys at TuttiFrutti are simply lovely, and the hot chocolate is delicious!

Plan your journey to avoid this station during Reading music festival in August as it gets very busy
Electrification gantries now in place for Platforms 12 to 15. Just need electrified trains now. And a LEFT LUGGAGE facility, £800million?

Little ScrapesMay 2, 2017Dodgy way finding if you're on a rush job to change trains. Escalators to platforms too narrow for rush hour capacity 😞
Beware of the floor - it's sometimes wetter inside than it is outside!
The old footbridge has gone, but there's a huge new one with lifts, stairs and escalators
Platform 5 tip: stand between WHSmith and Delice the France, and the train stops with the carriage door right in front of you!
From easter 2013 there will be extra platforms and new entrances to North and south of station
Avoid the many people who choose to travel by train and whinge about it. They typically tweet with #fgwfail hashtag. Get a car and sit in a queue on the M4 instead.
I have hidden a £50 note somewhere in the station as a leaving gift, I have returned to Australia, goodbye from the original mayor ;)
Best coffee in station has to be from the AMT bar. A little more pricy at £2.20 but well worth it.
The lift from the ground floor is behind the barriers and it takes you up and out of the barriers...
