- Momo Hui ShanAugust 7, 2015Love the ambience when it's empty. Scenic view along Orchard Road if you're sitting outdoors👌🏻 Try their Truffle Yakiniku Don. P.S.: ONSEN EGG. Awesome combination, but needs to be more salty👍🏻
- the fin de Clair oysters are a less meatier breed of oysters with a yellowish tinge that can mostly be mistaken for an inferior mollusk. the service is attentive and it's worth a visit.
- TrinaAugust 8, 2014HAPPY HOUR : 5-8pm daily, $10 martinis and pints. Freshly-shucked oysters $2 each. From 8pm-9.45pm daily, martini and sashimi special : 50% off martini of the day, and 5 pieces of sashimi for $5.
- Jack SungAugust 14, 2016Had the Kaisen Chirashi Don - pretty good stuff although serving was small. Good attentive service. Free wifi. Will return.
- My colleagues said the American roll is "sex in a sushi/sex in the mouth". I love the trio of fries...couldn't decide which was my favorite out of the spam, lotus root and truffle fries!
- Nicholas KohAugust 11, 2014They're a little more strict with the oyster happy hours now. But still pretty good Japanese-influenced comfort food. Lunch sets good value - like the yakiniku and Lotus root fries.
- Jonathan LimAugust 23, 2014Go during their happy hour period (5pm to 8pm) to enjoy oysters at $2 each with any order of cocktails or martinis.
- Nat MJune 15, 2018Lunch set was worth it, but wish that the sashmi slices were chunkier, especially the salmon one. Sweet potato truffle fries were pretty yummy too.
- Jackie C.May 23, 2016Superstar Maki Roll (salmon on and fried cheese with tempura flakes and mentaiko) - $12.90. Very unhealthy tasting but comfort food.
- Time Out SingaporeFebruary 5, 2013Highly recommended are the oyster shooter with vodka and Tobasco ($12) and the steak tartare ($21). Also try the shrubs made from vinegar boiled with fruit ($2 per shot). Read more
- Steven KokJune 18, 2016The signature Tanuki Kaisen Chrashi Donburi was good, the sashimi was fresh and portion was very generous. For SGD22, it's definitely a good value for money, but the service was disgusting!
- Monday/Tuesday lunch promo - $10 for salmon kaisen/garlic butter chicken/negitoro donburi
- Aizi RazakJuly 14, 2018Loved the foie gras truffle yakiniku with fresh truffle & the superstar role😋
- Rachel HoApril 19, 2016Tuna sashimi garlic don. Don here are good. Chicken looks really good and it's the cheapest $12.90.
- Dora ChooAugust 10, 2015Yakiniku Don ... Even my fussy teenager gave a seal of approval but at first glance, it looks like a small portion. But was enough. Along with the set lunch comes a miso soup and not great salad😏
- Great all round experience. Sushi with a twist. Excellent! The boring and the mundane should avoid. Will not be able to handle the surge of something exquisitely different.
- Pam SiaJuly 13, 20131st time here. Wld recommend what I had - Bees' Knees and the Normandy Oysters (also had the Cancale and Irish). Cocktails + Oysters = foolproof combi :)
- Shane GavinDecember 31, 2014Beer, trio of fries... Oh and there is a discount on oysters with certain drink purchases.
- Minka Monica LiFebruary 3, 2015Good value for happy hour (salmon sashimi $7 and oysters $2 per piece) but the quality isn't good. Skinny oysters, farmed salmon and drinks made from syrup.
- Ahn BustamanteDecember 14, 2014Try this! Love the Salmon Mentaiko Don. And sit at the tall tables at the deck.
- Tiffany NgFebruary 15, 2015tried the salmon mentai don cos everyone raved about it but it was a cold bowl of disappointment. the oysters made up for it but didn't save the day.
- IvanMarch 27, 2015Nice & fresh oysters, half a dozen for every cocktail you order during happy hour. Worth a try for oyster lover
- Happy hour from 5pm - 8pm every day! $10 martinis and free musubi (spam sushi) during this time. Discounts on cocktails and beer too.
- aaron iMay 16, 2014So many good choices.. Mako salad, salmon nachos - monito and oysters. Great find!
- Rachel LeeNovember 28, 2015Chirashi Don was the bomb! It came with a good amount of fresh sashimi. Skip the Curry Don. Oysters were disappointing as well (not the juicy type). What puts me off is the service, or lack thereof.
- Happy hour $10 Martinis, $2 oysters, and $7 salmon sashimi. Good value.
- Dora ChooMay 12, 2016The Yakiniku yummy... Daughter said she would share with me and inhaled 3/4 of it 😭 no sharing next time!
- Kai-En LohMay 31, 2014Check in special of free truffle fries apparently depends on the chef's mood, none today & replaced with salmon skin. Service staff all pinoys with slow brain waves and lack of menu knowledge. Bad.
- Fairuz Zainal AarifDecember 19, 2020Foie gras yakiniku is a must try! Make it a set for value for money meal.
- Dora ChooAugust 10, 2015Salmon Don - the rice they serve with was different ... There's black sesame seeds mixed in. Firstborn teenage son said it was "OK"...
- Food is awesome! The oysters were fresh. Love the salmon mentaiko rice bowl. Will be back again!
- Jeffrey OoiAugust 6, 2014Good environment, cheap drinks during happy hour, definitely a great place to chill and hang out!
- Emmanuel JeffersonJanuary 3, 2016Nice yakiniku donburi. Other than that, not much reasons to go here. Oysters aren't very fresh and small. Small bites are disappoint. Only have 2-3 options for beer. Come here only for donburi!
- Just go for the raw stuff, forget about the fried stuff. That's why it's called Tanuki RAW!
- TingJuly 14, 2015My bara chirashi don ($17.80++) ok only. Companion's truffle yakiniku ($14.80++) is better.
- RinnapatJune 17, 2016Japanese fusion food. Come early to avoid waiting. Couldn't taste salted egg yolk in the fries. The rolls were good. The donut wasn't. Happy hours are available. I wanted to like this place but meh.
- Valerie OonMay 19, 2013Happy hour oysters with order of martini and truffle fries with foursquare checkin!
- kisacakeMarch 18, 2014Limited seats indoors. It's really noisy outdoors, no thanks to the Crazy Somerset Bird Congregation in the evenings!
- Junqi LiaoMarch 20, 2013Pleasantly surprised by free truffle fries special after check in. Oysters were fresh... But u only get them at $1 each after buying a drink.
- Dora ChooAugust 10, 2015Barachirashi was not bad. Their premium chirashi even though was a customer favorite was "out of stock" for lunch 😪. Don't expect much from the service staff.
- The check-in special has changed to truffle fries, by the way
- XiaoHui LowMay 14, 2016Very disappointing Yakiniku and Kaisen Chirashi. Short rib is full of fats, rice is too dry and hard. Sashimi on Chirashi is not cold enough. Oysters were not fresh.
