If you live in the upper east side, it's much easier to get on the train here rather than GCT. Plus, you're cutting 10 minutes off your commute!

Don't be an a**hole. Standing on the stairs or at the top of the stairs causes an annoying bottleneck. Wait for your train in the ground floor lobby or walk all the way onto the platform.

On hot, humid muggy days/nights stand at the front of the platform for a nice breeze for when trains quickly go by

If you're traveling on a holiday (Thanksgiving or Christmas in particular) make sure you get there early enough to buy a ticket. Even the lines for the machines are super long.

If your arriving from the north, go to the last few cars, you'll be closer to the exit that's open all times. Stairs on the S.Bound side of 125 are typically locked late night and weekends.

Harlem's version of Grand Central Station is a convergence of upper east side and Westchester county, it's a wonder that they can't keep the riff raff at bay outside of this waiting area. Convenient.

This station can really be a blessing or a curse. Below the station is A verity of food and shops and access to the 4 5 & 6 lines. Just to get off the train too late at night.

If the ticket station when you walk in has a line, walk down 20 feet and you'll see four others. Also a great view of East Harlem from the platform.

The line for ticket can be annoying. Show up 10 minutes earlier. During the night feels a little weird because all you see are crack heads and bums. Much faster than 42nd street.

There are no ticket machines on the platform so make sure to buy your tickets downstairs to save time (and an elevator ride).

Trains to Grand Central are generally on Tracks 2 and 4, trains to New Haven, Stamford, Wassaic, North White Plains, and Southeast on Track 3, and trains to Croton and Poughkeepsie on Track 1.

Q&N is a good place to avoid fast food. Good create your own salad in the back of the store and not too expensive!

When you need a peak/off peak round trip ticket on one ticket-skip the machines, and head to the ticket window (and you'll make em smile if you pay w/exact change)
