I use this station often, and have never had any problems. Walk to the south end of the station to enter/exit near Target on Sunnyside. This side is well lit and generally better.
Dunno what all the haters are talking about lived in hood almost six months no problems or report of problems even close to other stead of the city love this area and its transformation
Sam HulickAugust 8, 2012Not really as sketchy or dangerous as people make it out to be. I live in Uptown. Just be aware of lurkers as you walk through the turnstile, sometimes they'll try to rush in with you for a free ride.
Ugh this station isn't nearly as nice as things back in Michigan/Wisconsin/the burbs. I hope I get that big promotion at work so I can go live somewhere nice! Loljk I love this stop :)- Once you pay your fare, head up the stairs. That's where you can board the trains.

I always hold my phone VERY closely... Luckily, I have never had a bad experience, but you never know... Especially in uptown.

JR87April 16, 2011If your traveling to or from this stop after midnight use extra caution, this part of uptown is dangerous at night, ton of muggings!. I personally take the extra 10min walk and go to Sheridan instead!- Like every place in the city this place can be sketchy. I've yet to have any issues though

Avoid the pigeons and the filth. Although the pigeons are cleaner than this worn out, POS station.
Shannon JohnsonDecember 17, 2012Not too bad, just don't be an idiot and wear headphones at 12 at night because you will get robbed- I hear this station is getting an overhaul. I think that will be a nice positive change, but not without short term pain.
If your north bound train is delayed when it reaches Wilson, it's going to run express to Granville or Loyola.
If you have the time, walk to the next stop. This stop is disgusting and you will get approached by unfriendly people.

A yard and shops were built adjacent to the station in 1901, these continued in use until the Howard Yard was expanded in 1993. The shop building was badly damaged in a fire on October 26, 1996, and the site was cleared soon after. An Aldi store, a Target store, and residences now occupy this area.
