Beautiful building, very well organized too. Most of the tracks are under a roof which is nice.

Brooke HardingMarch 26, 2017If you're taking the 5:01 am train to the airport, don't panic when the main entrance is closed. There's a side entrance to the left that is open near the taxi stand.

Milos GajdosJuly 11, 2018You can buy the train tickets online on vr.fi and collect them at a ticket machine. There are a lot of refreshments shop at the main hall.
Tram stop right in front of the main entrance. Taxi stand, bus station for local buses (plus. Finnair airport bus) on the right and left.
The underground sections are best avoided at night, especially at weekends.
Downstairs there is Alepa if you don’t want to pay rip off prices of your trainsnack. 👌
Julia SergioNovember 15, 2014Huge and very comfortable. Lots of cafés, you can find what you want most. Toilet price is 1 euro.
On the may to metro, sometimes the string quartet is playing - the real thing (made fall in love with the city).
The Picnic food shop has a surprisingly quiet corner with electronic socket suitable for whom needs to wait for trains. (Not mention the free wifi)

The main railway station is designed by Eliel Saarinen father of Eero Saarinen. Check out the stone guys above the main entrance.
Come for the trains, stay for the conversations with drunks and psychos!

During summer afternoons you can see tue Linnanmäki Ferris Wheel basking on the sun.
There's a couple of ticket selling machines on the platform area also. So you can avoid the queues when in a hurry.

Around these corners you can see really much really interesting people from every category.
If you need to go to Leppävaara, take the A train. It goes from last platform. The most on the left side. You dont even need to go inside the station. It is faster.
Try to find the new mobile groceryshop located near tracks 11-12, try it out and order home.

In the hall,go up to Pullman pub,grab a beer and don't hurry.New trains will always come!
Nice building with expensive but rather averige services. The train schedules are erratic and unreliable. Not a recommended method of transportation.
Check out the fresh fruits stand in the middle of the station platform, it's cheap!
A good station, but poor records of the trains keeping to schedule - avoid especially the IC leaving at evenings towards Tampere!
If you're going to Oulu( or further) often, try taking the east route instead of the west just for a change.
