- EaterJanuary 6, 2014Kapnos is a tribute to traditional and modern Greek cuisine. Wood-fired meats are a focus, as well as lemonade cocktails. Attached G restaurant serves up sandwiches by day and a tasting menu by night.
- Ebrahim BandookwalaDecember 7, 2015Spit roasted meat comes fresh off the roaster! Spiced goat was awesome, tender w crunchy char on the outside. Paired with their hot and delish Flatbread! Will go back for the lamb!
- Bitches Who BrunchFebruary 15, 2015Here for happy hour? Get the flatbread and 3 dip sampler to share, but double up on the tyrokafteri. The tahini is great as well. Also, order the mini lamb gyro for each person - you won't regret it.
- Behrad EatsMay 2, 2016Don't forget to order an array of grilled meats, we like the beef souvlaki, pork, and tender lamb!
- Washington PostOctober 28, 2013Starting 8/28: Happy hour 5 to 7 pm every weekday, w/ $5 draft beers, $6 draft wines and $7 draft lemonade cocktails. Snacks $5 each: Greek fries or plates of spanakopita and dolmades are good bets. Read more
- Behrad EatsMay 2, 2016You must order the stellar Ora King Salmon kebab with favosalata, capers, herb salad, & cucumbers.
- Matt BernsteinMarch 29, 2015All of the spreads were really good. The charred octopus was amazing. The suckling pig was also good. Next time I go I want to try the pork shoulder. It looks awesome.
- Washington PostSeptember 6, 2013Don’t come hungry for what Isabella calls “touristy” dishes. Get the octopus: Smoky, tender tentacle atop a swipe of yogurt tarted up w/ green harissa. The crackle comes from quick-fried amaranth. Read more
- Philo4ThoughtFebruary 9, 2015Classy, cutting-edge vibe. Amazing food -- Greek with a few modern twists. Very creative flare to this family-run restaurant. MUST visit and have the lamb if you're anywhere in the DC area.
- Tasting menu is a great way to try a lot - bang for your $ if hungry! Feta dip, raw shrimp and lamb stand out. Hollywood cocktail is excellent (even for non-bourbon drinkers) - yummy spiked lemonade.
- John NienartApril 1, 2014The $65 tasting is delicious, and a great value; everything was fantastic. But the service is really pretty miserable, so don't expect a 5-star experience to go with your 5-star food.
- Washington PostMarch 6, 2014Taramosalata, with steamed cauliflower, raw onion, kicky chives and an artful dab of caviar is great served with perfectly chewy flatbread. Read more
- DariOctober 13, 2013Chef's tasting menu was delicious, but be prepared for leftovers. My favorites were the spreads w/flat bread, the duck confit in phyllo dough (highlight of meal) and the spit roasted lamb.
- Behrad EatsMay 2, 2016The Spanakopita here is on another level: crispy phyllo wrapped around spinach & feta
- Behrad EatsMay 2, 2016Start your meal off with a sampling of three spreads - we liked the Revithosalata, Melitzanosalata, and Taramosalata.
- Bethany L.July 19, 2013Ali makes great drinks. Loved the Keebler Elf and the Turkish Fabio was refreshing without being too sweet. Try the spicy watermelon and the suckling pig. The lamb was too fatty for my taste.
- Andy KAugust 27, 2013Pastry chef turning out requisite something chocolate, something doughy, something creamy, and somethingclean and fruity, and landing no punches or executing well. They shouldn't get cute with baklava
- Elizabeth BennettAugust 7, 2014Happy hour offered every day from 5-7, including Sat-Sun! Get a $6 glass of the moscofilero - bubbly and crisp. Perfect summer white wine.
- Jason CJanuary 28, 2014Atmosphere on the Friday night I went looked like a sitcom's rendition of single, young people in the city. That's a welcome sign and a red flag, depending on your POV.
- Rebecca M.July 13, 2013Custom cocktails, eggplant, asparagus, spanakopita, lemon roasted chicken...it was all good. Still hungry? Skip the fritters and share the chocolate mousse.
- Come for the pita and the revithosalata, and stay for the blistered shishito peppers and awesome happy hour.
- AmateurConciergeMarch 28, 2018Very solid Greek food. Fish was well prepared. Great dips and mezze and such. Ambitious cocktail menu
- Nicole StahleckerNovember 19, 2015Great place to meet friends for drinks and shared food! Nice wine and cocktail selection. Very careful and knowledgable about allergies
- Isa LaraJuly 3, 2016Best lamb gyro I've ever had. Awesome three dip platter because they actually let you pick what dips to get.
- Washington PostOctober 16, 2013The latest and perhaps greatest idea (yet) from "Top Chef" veteran Mike Isabella. At this Greek restaurant, the familiar flavors are all accounted for, but the presentations are up to the minute.
- Teddy LuMay 11, 2015gotta get the dips! bread is hot, soft, and delicious. cod roe dip rocks. also must get the octopus and the goat.
- KTLRJuly 24, 2013Spit roasted meats like goat and suckling pig are not to be missed, but don't skip some other great options like the giant beans or barely cooked clams.
- Caitlin RushAugust 16, 2014After being underwhelmed by Graffiato, was thrilled to see Isabella's foray into Greek was far more impressive. Everything I had was good, the spit roast chicken & pancetta were particularly memorable
- Dara FisherOctober 23, 2015I've said it before and I'll say it again--if I was forced to eat one cuisine for the rest of my life, it would be Mediterranean. This place is the bomb.com.
- Their Brunch is fantastic! Ask for Bill as your server. He's wonderful, welcoming, efficient, and personable.
- Brian JengFebruary 15, 2015Excellent northern style Greek food, especially the spreads. Taramosatata my fav (Carp roe, caviar, cauliflower)
- Sonja ManningOctober 5, 2013Don't skip out on the baklava! All the drinks are named after team members which is so fun! Ask your server what his drink is.
- Travis HollerJuly 24, 2013The Charred Octopus and the Lamb is incredible. For drinks try the Gin Lemonade or Prosecco "on tap"
- Dara FisherJune 1, 2015Very delicious greek small plates from the chef that brought you Graffiato (also worth a visit)!
- Sherene JosephJanuary 30, 2015Good brunch, not great. I expected a little more, but do get the feta and eggplant dips! Yum!
- Katherine Kennedy AllenJanuary 4, 2014Do yourself a favor and spring for the tasting menu. The best in the city in my opinion
- Sabrina ZahidApril 1, 2014Taramosalata is a brilliant little dip spiked with caviar. Order the hearty portion of Greek fries. Top it off with a refreshing Mint Julep.
- MJune 6, 2016Coravin! So amazing. Ask for the sommelier to give you a demonstration. (Do a 3 oz pour of the J.J. Prüm).
- Ben RJune 30, 2015I almost never order chicken at restaurants but DO IT HERE. Maybe the best chicken I've ever had.
- Ari SchulerSeptember 20, 2014Excellent happy hour- try a booze lemonade. Spanakopita and the snapper are excellent.
- DC VegetarianJuly 21, 2013Lots of good vegetarian choices, but don't miss the feta spread, chickpea fries, and cauliflower.
- Kris PritchardJuly 10, 2013Cauliflower and Roasted Chicken were delicious! Wasn't that impressed with the apple baklava. Was more like an apple tart than baklava.
- Alex StevensJuly 14, 2013Another great restaurant by Mike Isabella. Make sure to try the hummus, a classic favorite.
- Farid Bosak-BaraniAugust 9, 2014Solid Bloody Mary's. The bread is excellent. Haven't had anything bad here.
- The watermelon salad is perfectly spicy and sweet. Also try the grilled octopus.
- Andy KAugust 27, 2013Wines by the glass are drinkable but have the complexity and tartness of Franzia across the board. Stick to beer.
