This station provides transfers to lines that can take you through Pg County and NoVA, as well as commuter bus access to SoMD. It's also a pretty darn cool station.

If you're traveling with a large group, like a school. Know where you're going especially if traveling during rush hour. Ppl will have ZERO patience for you, and move out the way if you see runners.Upvoted Mar 18

The first set of seats at the top are the best unless someone decides to sit on the one facing you....it then becomes the worst...its a gamble
Blue and Orange lines always crowded. In both directions. Green line stay crowded. Note to tourists: If you're looking for the Air and Space Museum, the exits with the astronauts are NOT your best exit. You'll want 7th and MD ave.

Watch out for the freaky kids getting it in on the top cross over level! And dress lite it's hot in the summer months!
Smithsonian Institution ArchivesApril 19, 2012This is the metro stop nearest our entrance. Take the Metro to L'Enfant Plaza and exit through Maryland Avenue and 7th Street, SW to enter the Capital Gallery Building where we're located.
The 74 bus goes to Waterfront metro, L'Enfant Plaza, Archives, Gallery Place and Convention Center. Exit Branch Ave/7th St side. Handy if there are metro delays.

Josh KinneyJanuary 26, 2012Pierre Charles L'Enfant modeled the city of Washington after Paris. You can thank him for its European look and confusing streets- The astronaut with the white background leads to L'enfant Plaza. The dark background goes out to the street.
The station is quite large, so plan on which exit you are taking before to arrive.
If you're not familiar with rush hr metro traffic and the Washington Dc area then make sure to plan ahead for heavy crowds! On the escalators stay to your right if you're not walking up.

Be nice and tell the tourists there are two levels... it will get them out of there faster.
Green Lines run on opposite platforms but have very close schedules so be prepared to run... FAST!
RoskoRGVOctober 10, 2011Pretty safe from my experience. At night you will see strange things but, you will also see random police bag checks and Metro personnel station at each location.
Escalators are getting better with not always being out of service. Still a problem with kids being a menace here.
Safety tip 4 all new visitors 2 DC. Stand 2 the right on escalators, don't crowd the doors, if u see one running more r coming make way & finally stroller user take the elevators. Welcome 2 L'Enfant.

In the afternoon, this station is crazy!!!!!!!!Watch out for the young teenagers
Security is a bit of an issue here I was told by a Metro Transit Police officer. Keep a close hold on your electronics.
