- Russell's TeapotAugust 23, 2016Been lucky to try some of the best bbq from Texas to Amsterdam - this brisket was up there with the best. Great bark, melts in your mouth. Ribs, slaw also on point. Great, even romantic, ambiance.
- Mike WinstonMarch 24, 2017Safe to say, this is the best, most authentic Texas-style BBQ in SF. Love the level of moisture, smoke, & spicy bark in all the meats. Don't miss the Burnt Ends Baked Beans either. WinstonWanders.com
- Giovanna JonesJanuary 22, 2016AMAZING! Just relocated to CA from TX & this place is worth eating at. Mac & chz is prob the best I have ever had. The beans had a little kick of spice! I'm in heaven! Great music & service!
- On the GridNovember 21, 2016It’s a can’t-fail recipe for neighborhood bar success: one part killer cocktails, one part smoked meats, and one part Magnolia Brewery (a longtime fave whose original location is in Haight-Ashbury). Read more
- Aaron AllonJuly 28, 2015Very legit BBQ (especially for being thousands of miles from TX). The brisket was well seasoned and cooked -- very moist with a great flavor. The sides are interesting and delicious. Big fan!
- Gnat BrainOctober 10, 2016Legit brisket. Collard greens has a great kick. Happy hour M-F from 3 to 6. Don't forget to bring a growler!
- Adrian PhillipsNovember 6, 2015Order at the counter, they'll give you whatever reasonable portion you want. Ribs are $3 each so definitely add one of those to your order. Cold sides & beer are available at the register.
- Jacy LiFebruary 13, 2017Nice BBQ joint right next to dogpatch boulders. Nice selection of beers. The place is always crowded even on weekday nice. So there's a good chance that you'll have trouble finding a seat.
- Greg PriceNovember 6, 2016Hipster take on Texas barbecue. Brisket was over-the-top fatty and moist, beyond the best Central TX joints -- but not much flavor. Excellent potato salad and beans, though.
- Brian SperdutoApril 21, 20154 blocks from 22nd st Caltrain station. Come for Taco Tuesday. Porter Beer-Brisket tacos with habanero salsa, and a Cole Porter to pair. Fantastic.
- Rochelle McCuneJune 3, 2017The $3 meat stick is a bargain. Nicely smoky, it goes great with bourbon & whiskey drinks.
- Jen MartinJune 30, 2015Vinegar lover? Order something, anything and ask for the spiced vinegar. Out of this world!
- Nick PinoJanuary 29, 2017Just a heads up for all my nut allergy folks – Smokestack uses almond wood to smoke all their meats. Shouldn't be an issue but bringing it to your attention.
- Kylie FOctober 25, 2014Beef brisket is super tender. 1/2 pound served on a massive tin oven tray. #freddflinstone moment
- BommyDecember 15, 2017Huge space that's great for groups. Tasty bbq brisket and mac & cheese. Pass on the baked beans.
- 🐐 🐙February 8, 2015Texan approved brisket. Deliciously fatty and tender. Add baked beans for a legit bbq.
- ᴡ JordanFebruary 28, 2018I hadn't been here in a couple years. Beer was better, pulled pork was better, brisket was worse, not really good at all, it used to be the best in the bay area, maybe just a bad night
- Melon LAugust 13, 2015Brisket is tender and delicious but pricey. Don't come expecting to consume large portions.
- Tessa JohnsonMay 24, 2015Brisket and potato salad pretty good, but they don't have real bbq sauce. The sauces they do have are experimental and disappointing.
- Lara MasonMarch 21, 2016They weigh by the hundredth of an ounce so make sure you're paying attention to how much meat they weigh. Our $15 brisket went to $16.50 because of weight.
- Pei 👻 WenJanuary 8, 2016Not sure why a few pieces of barbecued meat ended up costing a lot of dollars. Overpriced. But we enjoyed the upbeat and chill vibes!
- Marshall St. ClairMarch 26, 20157x7 mag says "choice BBQ and a stunning bar that offers some cocktails and strong spirits"
- Kerry SnyderMarch 8, 2015This place smells heavenly if heaven is a place that renders pigs into candy
- Marlene BMay 29, 2016Avoid the beef ribs. There is no meat on the bone. All you get are bone, fat and gristle. if there is any speck meat, it is overcooked, dry & saturated in fat. Very overpriced for what you get.
- Gnat BrainOctober 13, 2016They don't fill growlers other than their own even if the growler is non proprietary.
- Never order sides from this place. Pour kimchi bbq sauce over all the meat
- Jenny L.April 13, 2015Thumbs up for the architecture and vibe. Not sure I would call their food "BBQ", but I'm from KC ;) full disclosure...I didn't try it either.
- Dan CastellanoOctober 20, 2016The service here was terrible and the staff have terrible attitudes, totally made the meal unenjoyable.
