Many highly famous masterpieces are in this beautiful museum. It's a little hard to find your way with the map, unfortunately. Don't forget to pass to Tabularium after the Epigraphic Gallery.

HIGHLY recommended. My favorite thing in Rome so far. Go around 1pm (no crowds). They have an excellent collection, all beautifully displayed. The cafe is great, so is the view of the Forum. Must see!

Go to the cafe on top and get a cappuccino and a spinach and ricotta sandwich. Great view of Rome. You can also see about 90% of the forum from an overlook inside. Saves having to pay for that entry.

Great museum. One of the better collections in Rome besides those at the Vatican and not nearly as crowded. Great sculptures and artwork.

In 1471 Sixtus IV Della Rovere donated a collection of ancient bronzes to the people of Rome, locating them on the Capitoline Hill. Open to the public since 1734, thus considered the first museum ever
