Former names of the square are: Pashkevich-Erivan Square (1829), Theater Square (1851), Freedom Square (1918), Transcaucasian Square (1922-40), Beria Square (1940-53), and Lenin Square (1953-90).

According to local legend, the body of an Armenian communist leader who died in the 30s is under that pillar. This is Tbilisi's main spot, not much to do here in the square, but Old Town's nearby.

It’s a little bit similar to red square in Moscow. Most of Persian clubs are around this street. 😍😍😍

Bad design along with the hideous roundabout make this central square hard to navigate and impossible to enjoy. Pedestrians aren't welcome!
