Arriving past 9pm ? Go wait for your connexion upstairs in the Eurostar Check-In area. It's empty, quiet. There are standing desks, and the best view of the train station. Lovely spot.
Buy your museum pass from the tourist desk on your left when you left your Eurostar train. Then go to downstair to have your weekly Navigo pass. It can be loaded till Thursday night for that week.
Don't take the taxi stand on the right. Take the exit on the front and cross the street. Beware of your valuables when moving around the station and just outside.
Booktaxi ahead of time with sncf IDCab. They meet you at front of your train holding a sign with your name and walk you directly to car. Very efficient and reasonably priced to avoid the hassle
Amazing experience here, try THALYS trains, comfortable seats, delicious food, free WiFi, easy to charge the phones, bags next to you, nice window views. Fast & convenient. Very recommended station..
Nice place with lots of shops selling packed food for travelers. Good selection of shops selling various merchandise enough for the casual shoppers to wile away a few hours
The Mobilis is the Parisians travel card. Not advertised to tourists/visitors, but easily obtainable from the multilingual automatic ticket machines in any station. A lot cheaper than a "Paris Pass"
Easy to access, a bit overcrowded but then you are in Paris, some nice small cafes as Paul, Maison Pradier and Super Wild Coffee inside right near the platforms.
Not a lot of seating here, but the second floor bookstore section of Relay has very comfy armchairs if you can nab one, and a café. A few books in English too.
If you can't get wifi in the station (down most of the time), go across the street to Mc Donalds, where it's free, and which is also a safer place to wait at if you arrive late at night.
Not a cool place to hang out, especially at night. The station itself is impressive architecturally, but gets very messy and is confusing. Decent shopping area, but you won’t enter without the ticket.
The titular character of Hugo (2011) is seen in front of the tall green doors inside Paris Gare du Nord in one of the rare scenes of the film not shot on set.
Another nice looking train station, quite clean considering it is in the city. Only negative is the taxi, they don’t tell you the price until you are already in the car. Use Uber it will be cheaper.
Eurostar is very nice way to travel from London. Train station is easy to navigate. Check out the bon bon stand. Get there at least an hour before your train. Customs took longer than expected
If you're waiting for a TGV, look out for smartly dressedstaff and ticket barriers, as they'll appear on the platform faster than the train appears on the departures board!
There are plans for a face-lift for 2024. Gare du Nord really needs it. This is a really depressing place to be. Very limited facilities and expensive. Bring your own food and drink for your trip!
Jason Bourne travels to Paris Gare du Nord to leave his red bag in a locker, but Marie's car is spotted and he has to make an escape in The Bourne Identity (2002).
The staff are great, (I mean they have to be as the organisation has many flaws) be patient. Whatever has happened, it probably is not that person’s fault.
Get a free Lebara 3G Sim at the Relay kiosk next to platform 3 and activate it using the public wifi. Comes with a 1€ balance and 100mb of free 3G data.
If you are returning a car you rented from somewhere else (CDG)... the car park is in the -6/F of the basementgarage. The entrance of the car park is on Rue de Compiègne!
Beware of scammers when purchasing train tickets from the machines. The security doesn't seem to be helping when being reported, they might be working together. Go to the ticket office when in doubt.
You can use Credit Card to buy subway ticket. There are a limited number of vending machine, that’s why we sometimes have to make lines and waste time.
In search for the lockers? When facing the arriving trains, walk almost all the way to the left and look for the locker-sign on your left hand. They're found downstairs in the 'basement'.
It's said if you clap your hands and say your hometown name you will return safely from your trip . Nah! I just made it up, but hey! You and I could start a new tradition!!!
The Gare du Nord is the largest railway station in Paris. It opened in 1846 and the building itself was designed by the architect Jacques Hittorf in 1861 in a modern neoclassical style with a majestic facade decorated with 23 statues by famous sculptors.
