Definitely get a membership! You don't have to worry about seeing everything during busy days and the sprayground is a huge success with the kids during the summer!

Walk around the entire loop and check each viewpoint to find the bear. In hot weather, they like to rest in the water or shade areas
Get the membership! We have been 3 times with the kids and it has more than paid for itself!
Come check out the komodo dragons, orangutans, lions, tigers and so much more. Get a membership and enjoy discounts around the park and unlimited entry for the year.
Don't forget the hours changed this month. I did :-( that means it's a month or so before it is comfortable to go to the zoo again.
HISTORYApril 23, 2010This zoo was originally named the "Maytag Zoo" after Robert Maytag, who formed the Arizona Zoological Society. Maytag died a few months before its opening in November 1962.
Come on a Monday or Tuesday early in the season to avoid the crowds. Buy and print your tickets in advance.- Look around the exhibits for the dragons. If its warm out they will most likely be in the shade. If its cooler they'll be in the sun.

Strollers! OMG! And please watch your children. I do not find them cute or amusing and I paid to be here, too. #assholeparents- The cheetahs typically lay in the shade either in the far right corner or along the left side of the exhibit near the fence
- There is a water fountain and sprinkler park for the kids...bring your swim gear and towels!

MikeyJuly 1, 2013Highly recommend a stop here at the ZOO. Even in 115 degree weather we had fun and saw animals moving around.- Check both outdoor yards and the inside rooms to find the 4 orangutans. They often have access to choose where they want to be.

Chris SJanuary 1, 2015A nice facility but not great conditions for the animals. The lone orangutan locked in an empty concrete cell broke my heart.- In the summer, the lions like to rest in the shade in the bottom of the moat. Look down to see them.
- Grevy's zebra are endangered with only about 2500 living in the wild. The Phoenix Zoo participates in a species survival plan to breed zebra
Charlie LittrellDecember 28, 2011Go early for ZooLights to get a good parking spot. Otherwise, you'll be hoofing it in from the lot way down the street.- Get the souvenir cup. 6 bucks upfront...1 every use after that.
- Check out the ticket center near stingray bay for prices and times to feed the giraffes
