At edge of the woods we provide a plentiful dairy department. available in this department is a wide assortment of milks, eggs, refrigerated juices, butters, spreads, yogurts, dairy-free products, kefirs, non-animal meat substitutes, tofu's, kambuchas, and other food toppings. the eggs we sell are cage-free, organic, and contain omega three. the chickens that produce these eggs are treated better than other egg-laying chickens. since we are a vegetarian health food store, we consider it important to sell only animal made products in which the animals producing the products are treated well. caring about the animals that produce these eggs and milks is very important to us. for all those who are interested in meat substitute products, we offer a large selection from breakfast substitutes to lunchmeats. edge of the woods has it all! some of our better selling products are our kambuchas, made from a live culture, and our raw milk, which is made locally and in an animal friendly manner. some other products include food toppings such as butters, butter substitutes, mayonnaise, veganaise, whipped cream, whipped cream substitutes, and a variety of other toppings. also offered are soy probiotics, goat's milk, greek style yogurts, and other soy and rice made products for those who have an allergy to milk products

Our cosmetic department offers an expansive selection of natural and organic products that contain plant derived and chemical-free ingredients. we also have an extensive selection of fragrance-free products for individuals with sensitive skin. animal testing is not done in any phase of product development for any of our items. we also include a varied selection of natural children's products such as chloride-free oral care. this department provides a wide variety of men's personal care products. in addition to personal care products we also carry bathing products and body accessories. some examples of these include: bath and shower brushes, loofahs, sea sponges, pumice stones, nail and hairbrushes, and many more

Edge of the woods has been the main supplier of organic produce in the new haven community for over twenty years! we receive three to four shipments of fruit and vegetables a week, and many more when local crops are in season. the organic produce standards that are used by the u.s.d.a are as followed: absence of the following materials for at least three years: synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, and sewage sludge. these rules have to be maintained as long as the company maintains their organic certification. no irradiation, which is the process of exposing the food to radiation to kill any bacteria, insects, microorganisms, and viruses; no genetically modified plants or organisms; proper practices in the following areas: crop rotation, manure management, soil building techniques, and conservation techniques; avoidance of cross contamination in all processes, from the farm to the store; records of operation must be kept and updated. we always attempt to carry a wide variety of vegetables and fruit that are available seasonally. if you are looking for a specific item that we do not carry, please ask our buyer and if possible we will attempt to bring it in for you. also, items can be purchased by the case for a discounted rate. special orders normally can be filled within two to three days from the asking date
