Ghim Moh Chwee Kueh 李老三水粿 at #01-54, 6pcs for S$2.10 at the renovated food centre. Still one of the most appetizing Chwee Kueh fragrant and texture that I've eaten, eventhough Cai Poh feels more salty

Chai tow kway. Unlike Lian He #01-30 which binds dish with a layer of omelette, Hock Soon #01-18 is more traditional style: chunky, slightly burnt, lots of chai por (chopped fermented radish). Nice!

After 48hrs of fluid meals post-tooth surgery, I finally can naturally bite soft vegetables and slices of fish meat from this delicious bowl of Bittergourd Fish Soup-style Porridge when its chilled.

Traditional Cantonese Fish Porridge plus Egg (minus You Tiao) for lunch again at Temporary Stall #01-40. One of my favourite liquid meal during the first few days after tooth surgery.

Old time resident tip #1: try chuan kee boneless braised duck rice facing blk 19. Long queues at times but worth the wait! Extra tip - try weekends. The young chap inside is more experienced!

Chicken rice: Locals tell us Tong Fong Fatt #01-49 is d best of all their branches in SG. After ordering a few plates, we agree! Definitely better value than Loy Kee @ Balestier!

Jiu jiang shao la has a really long queue and isn't that fantastic. The one behind the Guan Kee Fried Kway Teow is much nicer. The Heong Hut fishball noodle isn't nice when it opens during cny.
  • Micaela Rachelle C.
Guan kee kway teow is pretty good, but not good worth the 50 mins wait. Chee kway is way OVERRATED! greasy n owner is stingy w the topping, but I m glad they din give more cos it taste kinda gross....

Unless u r willing to queue, else there is no way you can ever taste the hugely popular char Kway teow. Duck rice, heaven's Indian curry dosai, hor fun are other good options.

Get yr drinks from Tat Seng Coffee Stall. The lady boss here provides restaurant level service: she even said "thanks for patronising" in Mandarin and the drinks are cheap too! ^.^

Chwee kueh (steamed rice cakes): If u r a fan of Tiong Bahru's, u will find d famous #01-31 a tad too soft & soggy. And very little toppings (& salty!)
