Enjoy the sights and flavors of old Mexico at Historic Market Square, a favorite of locals and tourists for generations. Explore over 100 locally owned shops and stalls, all at a festive indoor mall famously described as the largest Mexican market outside Mexico...
Featuring the largest Mexican market in the U.S., the Market Square provides a variety of dining, shopping and festivals.
It's a big flea market with several vendors. They're really friendly, and you can attempt to barter prices. Some have really great things, some junk, but a great & colorful experience.
Be sure to buy an "Aguas fresca" from one of the vendors. I love watermelon flavor.
None of the prices are set in stone, always try & lower the price & most of the time you will.
Get crappy Mexican gifts that break easily from Mexico here! After buying crappy gifts you can eat good food at La Margarita or Mi Tierra! They make crappy toys, but make up in food!
Look around at all the shops. They all have the same items but not the same price! :)
I hope you love our beautiful city just as much as we do!!! Be sure to stop by Mi Tierra Cafe open 24/7, Hemisfair Park, the Riverwalk, the Tower, & of course- The Alamo!!! :-D
Fiesta !!!! Love the food.
I had the sliced fruit with lime squeezed over it and chili sauce added. YUMMY!!!
The trolly is your best friend! One of the easiest ways to get around because traffic can be so crazy at times. Have change :) tip the drivers because they're so awesome a
This place will save you the 3hr drive to Mexico. Amazing Mexican product.
HOAKEY SHOPS & MARKET!!! Do NOT waste your time. The city & tours say this is a "must see" and I would absolutely, positively disagree.
Love this place
Bring cash, and get an El Pariso ice cream bar for a break from shopping.
Gives you the feeling of being in Mexico . Great place to spend a lazy day.
Love the Fan Fair festival
Love the decorations & the experience!
We go 3 times a year good dills
Not much here at a reasonable price.
Favorite place to get Mexican Vanilla.
If you want to feel like you're in Mexico, go to El Mercado to shop and eat at Mi Tierra (and drink!) There's always a party going on, and it's a great place for photo ops for your profile.
Awww... felt like i was in Mexico! Viva Peidra Negras!
Search the blocks around the market square to look for the best parking. It ranges from $5-$20. Also a lot of the time (depending on the time of day) street parking is free.
Take cash. Many of the little shops will offer a small discount, if you don't pay with a debit or credit card.
Many stores sell the same items. Shoppers willing to do some extra walking should be able to spot the best price.
SEDC keeping tejano music alive
Almost all of the shops sell exactly the same thing. I was disappointed; thought there would be more variety.
Lame tourist area
$5 32oz beer in the pavilion. Can't be beat!
