People tend to check in during these times:
Metra Union Pacific / North Line (UP-N) to Kenosha and Metra Union Pacific / Northwest Line (UP-NW) to Harvard/McHenry
Pigeon poop, drunk homeless people, no shelter to speak of, gangland graffiti - Best train stop on the planet!
There's a 7-11 nearby.
Tracks can be tricky, and signage is confusing/lacking.
No wind shelters. Ridiculous.
Make sure you know which train line you are getting on!!
be careful locking up your bike there. the overpass keeps the bike dry but also well hidden, part thieves love to take seats/wheels
The Metra loves telling you the same train is arriving 8 times before it arrives
All the pretty commuter girls won't talk to me.
Best Buy is across the street and its parking lot offers the best pick up/drop off point for Metra
Nice protected bike rack near Armitage.
Need to switch lines going northbound? Listen for announcements and take the stairs on the north end down, through the tunnel, and back up.
For the Northwest line going to Chicago, look south toward the city at the lights above the tracks. The next train will be coming on the one with the green light.
There are two different train lines at this stop so make sure you hop on the right one!
The Bristol - a fantastic gastropub - is nearby. Swing over and try their duck fat fries. Nom.
I wish the lit-up billboard across the station for #Skittles etc were producing HEAT to warm freezing people instead of burning CASH for no reason. I'll remember freezing toes when I see "skittles".
Divvy bike sharing station at Armitage near Ashland.
Impossible to find a cab even if you call them ahead of time.
Don't trust your bike here even in the new locking area. Mine had a seat lock, wheel locks, and a really good U-lock. Came back a couple hours later & there was no trace of it. My whole bike was gone.
No teeps for you!
