Very nice 50's ambience, decor. Great burgers, and cheeseburgers with a twist. You will notice! Also don't go away without ice cream or a shake!

Get the cheeseburger. It comes with deep fried cheese.

The cheeseburgers are not as good as the hype. The way the cheese is cooked and presented is certainly unique, but the burgers are thin and plain.

Connecticut staple! fold the fried cheese onto the burger and you won't be disappointed. finish off with some of their homemade ice cream

Had the cheeseburger with fried cheese, interesting to have, but once is enough. The cod platter was much better. The ice cream was great. Nice place, will go to again when in the area.

Come here for perfect classic American food. Cheese on the grill, tender simple burger, creamy fresh-dairy shake that can't be beat, crispy rings and fries. Plus cute sweet waitresses. :) The best.

The cheese is really the secret to their burgers. Highly recommended.

Kinda cool the 50's theme soda shop but:The food was very ehh. Standard precut fries, standard burger, standard cheese ( Except the way they cook it on the griddle.) Lunch for 2? $34.00. NOT worth it.

Pumpkin ice cream...yum! Peppermint ice cream is the best. Grilled ham and cheese not so great. Bowl of soup is huge! Chef salad is the best!

You only get 4 fried cheese as a side with your platter. Still enough to share with someone. Love that you can choose the flavors in your banana split.

Crunchy cheese on the burgers (or as a side) is a must-have when you visit.

If you don't want a burger, you can still order a side of the legendary fried cheese for $1.90!  (Edit: Well, it was $1.90 on November 26, 2011. Up to $2.30 in May 2013. Still worth it!)

The only thing good is breakfest. Even that is just average. The burgers are ok only thing special is the cheese. Got a salad and had a cup of water in the bowl. very expensive for what you get.

    Angela Symonds · November 8, 2011

Don't order burgers or fries. The cheese is good bit the burgers are not fresh and taste like freezer burn. The ice cream and shakes are good though.. Get dinner somewhere else and go here for desert.

They are not messing around with these cheeseburgers - absolutely unreal with the crispy-chewy slices enveloping the patty. Also the best onion rings I've ever had. Great shakes/sundaes, too!

The Bernice original is a must-order. The cheeseburger comes with four slices of American cheese in one of the most unique displays of a burger you'll see. Their shakes & ice cream rock too. Get 'em.
