Authentic japanese food in The Mission. One word: delicious! Don't miss karaage, eggplant in miso broth (Nasu no agebitashi) & Koshihikari rice for 2, (the salmon with ikura one is my favorite!)

Tasty food, but portions are small (typical for izakaya) but selection is not that wide. End up eating lots of different stuff, but pricey.

Eat before (or after) your dinner at Yuzuki or you'll leave hungry. Try the sake flight - really interesting to learn more about sake and to taste really good sake (for once).

It's subtle, but the crown jewel is the zaru tofu, custardy housemade tofu that comes with accompaniments like bonito flakes & ginger. Start with a sprinkling of salt to fully appreciate its flavor. Read more

This classy, minimalist Japanese focuses on the finer aspects of Japanese cuisine. Their silky, home-made tofu and sea urchin infused egg custard "chawanmushi" are popular favorites.

The size and cost of the different dishes is very uneven-the skewers are cheap and great, the mackerel is expensive and so-so. The karaage is amazing.

This is the best place to eat in the whole city. I just ate a deep fried smelt and it was top notch, balls to the wall, the best food I've ever had. Do yourself a favor and eat here and maybe marry it
