- Alex DamashekApril 13, 2015This place broth beats Ipuddo imo, All the Ramen is good, but the spicy miso is probably the most unique. The shio tsukemen is a sleeper fav , cold noodles with hot broth just like I had in Tokyo.
- Spicy miso here is totally underrated with other spots like Ippudo and Rai Rai Ken in the neighborhood. Skip the lines, try this place. The cold noodles (syoyu tsukemen) are also really good.
- Village VoiceJune 3, 2013Crowds may line up at Ippudo, but the ramen here is just as delicious. We love the astonishingly hot “spicy miso ramen," but the tender-tongued should be spared and go with the shio ramen instead.
- I love love the gyolou ramen. It is cabbage garlic and pork heaven. When I'm trying to be less of a fatty I do the vegetable ramen with chasiu-- its a much lighter meal.
- Anastasiia ....September 18, 2014Place is good. I tried Shio Ramen and it was very plain. Also we tried spicy miso ramen it was very good! So I just poor some broth from spicy to Shio and it was perfect!
- ElizaJanuary 1, 2019Winter Special: Mt Fuji: is not your usual ramen, but you’ll be delighted by the flavors of this cheesy tomato soup and probably finish every last drop!
- Winson WongFebruary 13, 2015The ramen here is decent. Broth is flavorful, pork based with some seafood flavor. The roast pork was a little dry, noodles slightly over cooked, egg well cooked. Good prices and service friendly.
- Kristine YoungAugust 26, 2013If you aren't up for ramen, their appetizers are cheap and delicious! I go in for the curry chicken rice and deluxe Zara. Absolutely delicious!
- Serious EatsMarch 15, 2013This Japanese chain may not make the best ramen in the city, but it's a good choice for the East Village, especially if you don't want to wait for Ippudo.
- Leo SumulongOctober 25, 2014The shio tsukemen here is as good a bowl as any I've tried. Solid umami flavors from the scallop and pork. (And yes, extra pork is the way to go.)
- Time Out New YorkJune 4, 2013This Japanese export started in Tokyo before making the jump to the East Village; the shio broth here is unique for its nontraditional use of chicken and pork bones.
- Very good spicy miso as others have recommended. Not too spicy. Incredible broth. Didn't think I was going to be a fan of the corn but it didn't take away from the flavor.
- The Shio ramen is a great alternative if you're not in the mood for a thick, heavy broth based ramen like Ippudo's.
- Aniruddha MandkeAugust 10, 2014Miso ramen with dry sake. Perfect combination. Easy to get seats on a Saturday between 6.30pm - 7.30pm. Warm service.
- Great affordable ramen with generous portions. Pork Gyoza is killer. I recommend the shoyu ramen and ask them to hold the onions.
- Village VoiceAugust 13, 2010This is a very fine bowl of ramen all around, but it's the broth that makes it one of our favorite dishes -- brick-red, zipped with plenty of chile, the miso base adding salty, nutty heft and backbone
- Ajit VergheseJanuary 13, 2012RS says: Try the Spicy Miso Ramen. "The medium-weight miso is earthy and gritty, the level of heat higher than you'd ever expect, and the kernels of corn a cooling component. "
- Casey SchoonoverSeptember 12, 2014They do a spicy Hiyashi Chuka (cold noodles) that is awesome on a warm day!
- Jamie LiuAugust 7, 2014I love the pork buns. And their noodles are great. Delicious! Two thumbs up!!
- Go for the spicy miso ramen. Don't worry, it won't scald your ass the next morning.
- Lane RettigApril 5, 2014Spicy miso ramen not that spicy but tastes way better than hiyashi chuka!! The hiyashi chuka noodles and sauce are tasty but the egg and pork was flavorless
- ChenyuJanuary 9, 2013Try the Shio Chasyu-Tsukemen - Must-try cold handmade noodle dipped in hot soup is what makes this st marks ramen place special
- NYU Restaurateur ClubJuly 27, 2011Definitely the best ramen joint on St. Marks - take this from a ragtag group of broke college students who have tried every ramen joint within a 10-block radius!
- Gary RelojJanuary 4, 2015Yeah, get the ramen of course, but you need to try their octopus appetizer!! Freakin amazing.
- SarahMarch 5, 2011i find the ramen to be ok--a lighter broth than ippudo makes this a healthier option. but if i'm in the neighborhood during the day, i definitely pick up the rice ball special to go.
- Huge fan of the tsukemen - just a huge ball of noods ripe for dippin in a porky salty scallopy seafoody broth. Good in summer OR winter.
- y contentJune 21, 2014smallish but filling portions, super fast service. good price. shio was on point, do the right thing
- Tim FaustiniSeptember 8, 2014I like the gekikara tsukemen or the spicy miso. It's a pretty reliable global chain in the city.
- Salih Seckin SevincDecember 26, 2016A quick shot ramen spot. The broth is not rich but the ramen worths the price.
- Duke OhashiJanuary 27, 2013If you're hungry and on a budget, get the set menu: Shio / Shoyu ramen with Buta / Curry / Gyoza for $13.
- Please try Karaage, Fried Chicken! The sauce is so nice. It's miso sauce!
- Chris PJanuary 11, 2015In terms of ways to spend a cold Sunday afternoon, having lunch here is up there on my list.
- Great ramen and cold noodles, a little bit pricey, but totally worth it. The chinese cold noodles is a must try, refreshing & savory. Yum.
- Village VoiceAugust 15, 2014The shio ramen is king, its simple, salty liquid bolstered by tasty scallop powder. Read more
- Marcus Is KingJuly 14, 2013Extra pork and extra egg please! The karage was on point, comes with a sweet sauce
- shal923hOctober 1, 2015Lunch bento set comes with a half ramen and rice with appetizers, all for just under $10
- MoRizaJuly 22, 2012Try the Shoyu Ramen - I'd prefer cold ramen in the summer time, but nice shoyu broth could do too.
- Ryan SheaSeptember 2, 2013B rating, yikes. This is the place you mayyybe consider if Ramen Misoya, Rai Rai Ken, Menkui-Tei, and Ippudo are all packed.
- Neilson AbeelFebruary 16, 2014The Spicy Miso ramen was excellent. Not super hot by my standards but intensely flavorful.
- Escott HayashidiazJanuary 17, 2016It's a chain, but their ramen is tasty and they are good for a quick meal in the East Village.
- Village VoiceNovember 14, 2011Winner of Best Japanese—Ramen in the Village Voice 2011 Best Of issue! Careful - the hot miso ramem is HOT! But in the best way.
- Mary G MarygbJanuary 25, 2010It's not the best ramen you can find in the city, but decent enough for the price. An overall good experience. Just like the many Japanese restaurant around, it was small, cozy, and well-decorated!
