- The laksa from #01-33 is delicious. The taste of the gravy is well balanced. Not too spicy, not too lemak. It's the old school type of laksa. The tau pok is yummy! Good value at S$3.00.

- Chicken rice. San Xi Hainanese Chicken Rice #01-53 serves good value. A $4 order came with a big plate of juicy white meat on a bed of boiled bean sprouts (taugeh) & a bowl of light herbal soup

- Kopi: Of all d kopi stalls in d mkt, locals point out 2 fave brewers: Hin Lai #01-07 & Totally Coffee #01-73. After sampling most stalls, I totally agree! Fragrant & more importantly, strong stuff!
- Ice Kacang. Old-school style from Queenstown Dessert, Sugarcane Juices #01-16. All the standard ingredients including “atap chee “. Syrup not excessively sweet or colourful. $1.50 for a bowl

- Fishball noodles: 2 popular stalls: #01-50 njoys d longer q, & new contender 01-72 (reportedly fr Margaret Drv) whose chilli is shiok! D other stalls not worth your palate's time
- Char kway teow. Yummy plate from Hwa Heng #01-30! Savoury, not overly wet or sweet. Burnt bits here & there. Can’t taste any fried pork lard cubes though. $3 for this serving
- Chwee kueh (steamed rice cakes). From Kovan Chwee Kueh #01-64). A light snack in the morning. Bite-size convenient for sharing too
- #01-65 YONG SIANG CHICKEN RICE is tempting the chilli is hot and tasty and the chicken is soft like the rice. Fav!
- Hainanese curry rice. While the stewed cabbage from Bendemeer Curry Rice #01-04 melts in the mouth, their pork chop was tougher to bite into
- Surprised that vegetarian stall Jian Kang #01-82 does not offer ur typical bee hoon fare. Instead they hv 'specials' like duck rice (very tasty), Lor Mee, Mee Siam, etc

- Minced pork noodles. Affordable $3 bowl from 潮興鱼圆肉脞面 #01-15. Clean flavours. Fishball noodles starts from $2 👍🏼 Long queues during lunchtime
- Fried carrot cake: 2 popular stalls: 1) Yong Xiang #01-35 & 2) Hai Sheng #01-85. 1 dish out old-skool style, where it's fried & cut in2 messy cubes. 2 pre-chunks, fries it flat w egg & is less salty
- Laksa: Lotsa stalls selling laksa but d specialist is Min Ji Laksa #01-31; it's all they sell. Katong laksa (more coconut milk) they r not, but their base packs a spicy punch! Generous ingredients
- If you like your Lor Mee with lots of fried stuff then try it at Heng Kee Lor Mee at 01-87. The traditional Lor Mee has fish meat (not fried) and it balances the dish well.
- Yu tiao (fried dough fritters): Thick & substantial @ Eat May Know #01-32. Luv their caramelised butterfly fritters too. Join d q!

- Prawn noodles: What makes Sims Place #01-42 a memorable experience is d REALLY thick soup. Basic $3 order is served w pork ribs. 2 savour more, order a soup serving (2 get more of that flavour!)
- Bak chok mee at AMIGO is da bomb!!! They are generous with crispy wanton and ingredients... run by friendly couple. My wkend delight! Stall located at a corner adjacent to the hainanese curry rice
- Nasi Lemak. #01-47 see queues in the mornings. While the rice is sweet-smelling, the chilli paste is not. Like the rest of (fried) items, it's just generic & convenient
- Sims Place Prawn Noodle rocks! Best prawn mee in Singapore! Order the soup version! Super thick and flavourful! :) If takeaway, the boss will pack the noodles separately!
- Putu mayam: Soon Huat Cooked Food (#01-71) is a nondescript stall sellg pineapple tarts & curry puffs. But main attraction is Putu Mayam, an Indian snack made of rice flour, served w palm sugar
- Chee cheong fun (rice rolls): Nan Rong has been selling here 4 as long as I can remember. Order with their yam cake, splash lotsa ti chiao (sweet bean sauce) & chilli, n u r all set 4 bfast
- Bak Chor mee (minced meat noodles): Reward urself w a bowl of generous portions of minced meat, stewed mushrooms & fried wantans, over springy cooked noodles. Zhen Ji (#01-21) far corner of d centre
- Fishball Noodle #01-50. The neighbourhood-favoured stall among the 3-4 offerings in the food centre. Fishballs are bouncy & chewy, chilli sauce packs a punch!
- Market, road & surrounding area named after the residence (Bendemeer House) of Seah Liang Seah (1850-1924), a well-known pepper and gambier trader. Nobody knows why “Bendemeer”. Source: seaheuchin.com

- Bak Kut Teh (pork ribs soup): Head 2 #01-23 for dis clear peppery soup. Order d spare ribs 4 best experience. They use fresh (vs frozen) meat. Burp!
- One of the best cleaner I've seen in Singapore. Cleans efficiently and polite. 👍👍👍
- Must trys: carrot cake (near lor mee stall), bak cho mee with fried wanton at "dhoby ghaut" stall at $2.50; under rated- Tasty and value for money. Finish by 1pm on wkends!
- Heathy Yong tau foo, Margaret drive fish ball noodle and toa payoh beef noodle all great here
- Toa Payoh-Hwa Heng Beef Noodle #01-01. Very fresh beef and value for money. Yummy.

- Can Try 粥29湯 (Porridge & Soup) For Something Light. The Owner (think is husband n wife) they r super super v friendly
