- Alex GodinDecember 10, 2013It's not easy for a Jewish guy to open a ramen joint in Tokyo. It's even harder to get Japanese people to say it's good. Ivan did both and now he's here in New York, home of the Jews, to feed us.
- Leo SumulongJanuary 17, 2015The shio ramen is full of rich, meaty flavor...it's definitely one of the best bowls you'll find in the city. The rye noodles provide a great twist on a classic soup. Get it with egg!
- The Corcoran GroupJanuary 17, 2014Worth the trek to 11th Ave. to sample the much talked about ramen, which competes with the likes of the nearby Ippudo and Totto. We've only had the Tokyo Shoyu, but we'll be back soon to try others!
- Harry TingMay 16, 2015Sweet Silken Tofu is like the tastiest version of oatmeal with oh-so-soft tofu soaked in sweet condensed milk!! Topped with banana & candied pecan~ who said healthy food can't be tasty?
- Staff PicksAugust 19, 2014Try one of New York City's best ramen spots, Ivan Orkin's Ramen Slurp Shop in Midtown. Grab the seminal Shio ramen recipe made with egg, ribboned chashu pork, & shio. Read more
- Ellie DSeptember 22, 2015Some really fun, experimental bowls from Ivan Orkin's Ivan Ramen outpost. The chilled lemon in the summer is a favorite, and tsukemen is great too if not a bit on the meaty/unctuous side for my taste.
- Try the glazed brussel sprouts that were just added to the menu. Share them with your friends. Fight over the final delicious bites as they run out. Make enemies as you flee with them, your preciouses
- Spicy ramen is my favorite, I could eat it every day. It's reeeaally spicy though so don't get it if you can't handle spice!! Also am a fan of the iced barley tea but be warned - it's not very sweet.
- jennifer hanNovember 25, 2013yum! their noodles are rye with some nice bite, and there's schmaltz in the rich broth. go full-on...add an egg and chili oil. the ivan palmer is good too - half yuzu lemonade, half barley tea.
- First We FeastAugust 3, 2014The shio (salt-flavored) ramen is a far cry from the muddied served at so many ramen shops in NYC. The broth is pure, allowing the nuances of the soup shine through Read more
- Brad ParkJanuary 7, 2014Expertly curated high-end food court in Hell’s Kitchen. Court Street Grocers’ crazy sandwiches to The Cannibal’s full slate of meats and beers. Best ramen in NYC --> Ivan Ramen outside of Tokyo.
- Xande MacedoDecember 15, 2013This is one of the best Ramen joint I've been to in New York. Still prefer Toto but this spot is quiet a treat. Lots of chicken fat too.
- Victoria NatenzonMay 3, 2014I traveled so far out of my way to come here and I couldn't be happier about it. One of the best ramen spots in the city. Can't wait to eat at their new flagship in EV.
- Xande MacedoDecember 15, 2013Get a Goose Island Sofie over Cannonball to a complain your ramen. Be quick. You will have 2 minutes to get it and come back to pick up your order.
- MarcApril 16, 2014Tasting Table's Top Ramen NYC: Roasted garlic mazemen "thin, frizzy noodles are dressed in a little broth plus mashed roasted garlic, chicken and pork fat--is almost too much to bear."
- DailyCandyJanuary 14, 2014Get a taste of the toasted rye noodle dish (made by New Jersey’s Sun Noodle) that made Ivan Orkin famous among Japan’s ramen-yas. The dedication shines in each bowl.
- jon ferrerAugust 23, 2014Honestly the triple garlic mazemen is a bit rich for my taste but the smoked whitefish donburi is out of this world delicious.
- Rose AhnNovember 20, 2013Came here on opening day so it was a bit crazy but the ramen had good texture. The owner, David, recommends ordering the Negi Salad with your order.
- Harumi UAugust 25, 2014A part of Gotham West Market. Ramen is pretty good. Just different from what is traditionally considered ramen noodle soup. You order at a cashier and wait for them to call your name to pick up
- Ned WardFebruary 18, 2014Loaded shoyu ramen gets you extra chasu, chili oil and roasted tomato. Communal table seating with other food options. Will be back.
- Melissa PatelOctober 28, 2014Best dinner - great food and company. Thanks for the noodles to play with. Kai added fries to his ramen for texture.
- M MApril 28, 2014Good noodles, but I like Ippudo, Toto, and Chuko better. I like spicy food but the Red Spicy Chili Ramen was overpoweringly hot. My mouth is still on fire 10 min later.
- Alice EunjinAugust 7, 2015Miso butter ramen replaced their signature garlic ramen! Their food was very heavy in sodium and broth was oily.. And very small portions... I could eat two bowls of ramen here!
- J CrowleyDecember 19, 2015Tokyo ramen (soy sauce base) was incredible. Add on chicken, extra pork and an egg!
- Being FattyJanuary 9, 2015Found the shoyu ramen to be best, though the soft egg on the spicy ramen was a special addition. Shio ramen a bit light vs. the depth of the shoyu.
- Wade HowellNovember 20, 2013newly opened along 11th avenue....the ugly brick highrise apartments replaced the historic carriage houses and stables and ruined everyones' view but FINALLY another place to eat near home. A+++++
- Amazing noodles and what a piece of pork. Definitely try the roasted garlic mazemen or go classik with the ship ramen. Welcome back home Ivan.
- Blake OlmsteadJanuary 18, 2016Did I just pay more for counter service than I would at a table on the Lower East Side? Oh, well. It's the best ramen I've had outside of Tokyo.
- Ron HsuNovember 26, 2013Clean, delicious broth. A bit overpriced for lunch fare. Portion sizes are "healthy", may be a bit on the small side for most. Both donburis are good but the whitefish is the clear winner.
- robert thollNovember 25, 2013My first bowl of ramen was good but not hot enough on a very cold night. The yuzu lemonade was great! Hoping to try more soon. It's a tad expensive but it is nyc so...
- paul wallaceAugust 6, 2014While slightly on the high end of the price scale, this place is true to it's roots while diverging in just the right way. The staff is knowledgable and the ramen is nothing short of amazing.
- J LAugust 13, 2014Out of the way outpost of Ivan Ramen in Gotham West. If ramen isn't your thing, there are other vendors. The garlic mazemen and spicy ramen are two ramen to try.
- Serious EatsDecember 17, 2013One of the most unique and delicious ramen shops in the city. Unashemedly inauthentic. A must-visit.
- Jin MoonSeptember 5, 2016Good spicy ramen and shio ramen. The shio ramen has bonito taste so those who dont like bonito flavor will not like it. Other than that it is a pretty refreshing soup.
- KarlaMarch 29, 2014Try to get one of each- the shio and the shoyu. Both are great but it's a personal preference.
- Elizabeth LeeOctober 18, 2016Nice ramen with hearty broth, but I think I am too used to the Japanese tonkatsu broth. Pork buns can't compete with momofuku.
- Gerard VNovember 21, 2013Smaller but more inventive ramen than Totto or Ippudo. Deep, rich flavours. Custom Sun Noodles. Nuanced, must-order chili garlic oil (contains pickles?). No wait service or kae-dama.
- Robert GeilsMarch 4, 2014When your in Hells Kitchen and it freezes over, nothing beats this middle shop in the #GothamWest food court. Your biggest problem will be choosing where to eat. Have an egg!
- HeidiMarch 10, 2017Shrimp cake bao is better than pork belly bao. Appreciate innovative ramen but the chicken broth isn't the same as pork. Tomato broth ramen was better. Also noodles were over cooked. Stellar service.
- It's worth the walk and they have improved the ordering process. Plus, Ample Hills makes for a great dessert.
- The spicy pork ramen is solid. They also now serve beer and sake!
- Huey OJanuary 10, 2014Get the Ivan Palmer. A play on the Arnold Palmer but with yuzu instead if lemonade. Broths are a bit on the saltier side IMHO.
- SuperjonbotJanuary 2, 2014Meh. But I guess it's fantastic for "white people making ramen" standards. A bit pricey for what you get and with the new Totto and new ippudo close by, it's a hard to recommend.
- Andrew COctober 28, 2019Got two small pork buns... it was very flavorful and delicious, but for $9 - it's quite pricey!!!
- Darren WongOctober 4, 2014Pro tip - get a spicy red chili and a roasted garlic ramen then mix them together in one.
