Perched atop the Highlands at Northstar with ski-in/ski-out access and ski valet service. Have yummy food & cocktails in The Living Room but stake out a spot early, it gets very busy during après-ski.

Come for the indulgent pastries, delicate Viennoiserie, and perfect macarons in seasonal flavors (my faves are PB&J, espresso, and lemon), but expect a line out the door at all hours of the day.

Unparalleled. Explore their vegetable garden, then savor the 9+ course tasting (I've had as many as 20, your mileage may vary) and truly epic wine program. Maître d' Larry will take great care of you.

This is Taittinger's Napa outpost complete with faux 18th century château, but it is all quite fun. Rather than a full tasting, go for a glass of Le Rêve Blanc de Blancs - it really is a "dream."

      Stag's Leap Wine CellarsDecember 3, 2013

Famed for their SLV cabernet sauvignon that beat Bordeaux at the 1976 Paris tasting, they still make some of the very best cabs in Napa. Tastings from $15. Not to be confused with Stags' Leap Winery!

This is the Disneyland of Napa with crowds of tourists to match (they even do tours in Mandarin now), but the Mission-style architecture is pretty, the wine isn't bad, and it's a nice intro to Napa.

The Persian palace: cheesy or fun? I think the latter, and refreshingly unique among faux French chateaus. Tastings feature generous pours, (Malbec is their best). Served with pistachios, naturally.

Revolutionary in HK. Signatures: "KFC," corn tempura, fried chicken. Must-try yakitori: meatball, heart, liver. Best: shichimi quail. Fun cocktails, great Japanese whisky. 1 hr+ wait. No reservations!
