Niffy SpectorAugust 29, 2012Long line to get in. Must pay for two tours - harem and main palace. Don't skip the harem tour. Also they make you wear plastic bags on your shoes to keep palace carpets clean so don't wear sandals.
ElieMay 1, 2014Make sure you visit this when in Istanbul. Go early in the morning to avoid queues as much as you can. They provide tours of the place, which is quite impressive. Photos aren't allowed though.

Audio guide rental is free with ID or $/€/₺ deposit, it gives a lot of context. Ideally visit the older Topkapı palace first.

Republic, Atatürk's most important events in the palace was used as residence of visiting Istanbul, the Atatürk's death on 10 November 1938 . Ataturk died in the palace of the 71 numbered rooms.
