- Asaf BensimọnJune 17, 2016Great museum, very educational. You should get a bit early to get tickets to other exhibits. Also we really liked that they had a memorial wall about other nations who had genocideUpvoted Mar 24
- stepherApril 21, 2015If you don't already have a ticket for the main exhibit, you will need to get on line EARLY to get a ticket for the same day. I'd recommend arriving at least 45 minutes prior to ticket dispersal.
- JanaJanuary 7, 2019One of the best museums in DC. You will be touched and leave with many thoughts and emotions. Bring your glasses: the lights are dimmed and the captions are hard to read (mostly white text on black).
- BaturalpMarch 12, 2018If you couldn’t get a ticket, you can always donate to become a museum member so you can see the permanent exhibition.
- Italo DoderoDecember 29, 2017Go early to have enough time to see it all, videos and lots to read. No for kids. Teens and up.
- Stacy Bo BacyOctober 1, 2021It’s a lot to see and take in. Easy to reserve a ticket online and check in on arrival. Be quiet and respectful.
- Madeley GlasscockJuly 27, 2017The emotional power it has is incredible. Margit Meissner (95 year old Holocaust survivor) was there and sharing some stories along the exhibit. I would recommend everyone to go there.
- Eduardo IríasJuly 22, 2016Visit the permanent exhibition. You can get the tickets online, https://www.etix.com/ticket/online/. It's a sad museum, but it will motivate you to fight for social injustice and discrimination.
- Aaron SmithMay 13, 2015DO NOT miss this exhibit! Get tickets ahead or arrive before 10am to claim a day pass. The line starts early but we got right in!
- Danielle DaSilvaJuly 13, 2018Museum is really well done. Try to get your tickets in advance or be ready to line up very early. Truly moving exhibits.
- MLe BSeptember 7, 2015Go early, or right when it opens, the memorial room is so powerful when it's empty
- Rachel AlexanderMarch 20, 2017Takes 3-4 hours to experience the whole museum. Learned a lot about history of Holocaust and how it impacted the world. Some exhibits are difficult to swallow but necessary to see.
- Alex Lazo VasquezAugust 14, 2014Take the tour. Its well worth it. I spent about 3 hours in this museum, it has 4 stories full of the history of the holocaust and WWII in general. Leaves you speechless
- R BJune 24, 2015The elevators are claustrophobic for a reason. This museum may make you a bit uncomfortable, it's supposed to.
- Mike DavisJune 25, 2015This is one of the hardest museums to get through but one of the best presentations you will ever see. The room with the shoes will never leave my mind.
- Jessy BeeDecember 14, 2013Don't skip this museum! It is very well done; it is a forced self guided museum that goes in historical order. Quick facts, interesting new information that you don't routinely see.
- Arielle KOctober 16, 2013Make sure to check out the children's art exhibit where children explain their thoughts & feelings of the Holocaust on tiles hanging on a wall. You could spend hours trying to read them all!
- John KeatingApril 14, 2023Fortunate to have VIP tour on April 22 1993. Can't believe all the color movie films throughout the museum. And the stack of shoes was very powerful. The Museum provides a powerful lesson today 2023
- JenniferApril 6, 2015Extremely thorough history of the holocaust; all aspects are included - the rise of Hitler, other groups persecuted by Hitler, what happened afterwards, etc; impressive amount of artifacts.
- Lauren AndersonMarch 31, 2013Get there early to make sure you get one of the limited number of passes they issue per day otherwise you can't see the permanent collection. Security is tight for a reason! Don't complain!
- Bruno JohnsonJuly 22, 2014Best museum in town! Very tough though, u'll might not hold your crying but worth the visit.
- Ximena VegaAugust 22, 2013Let's be honest: the most complete Holocaust Museum is Yad Vashem. Having said that, the USHMM is still a must do in DC. Just don't forget to bring tissues.
- Lauren MillardAugust 10, 2013Very historically informative in a tasteful way. All graphic images/information is blocked off so you can make the choice of what to see. Excellent museum.
- Jonathan PreiserSeptember 13, 2019Very emotional place. Showes both inhumanity of some and the compassion and courage of others. I think all should go through it so such events are never repeated.
- Social News NetworkJune 14, 2012This is a heart-wrenching and amazing experience that I would recommend for people of all ages. Tickets are free, but there's almost always a long line, so go early.
- Shelby TaylorApril 5, 2013Daniels Story is a great way for kids, as well as adults to understand and listen to the hardships children went through. Great experience, and very "hands on."
- J. T.December 13, 2015Beautiful and very moving. Met a survivor who was kind enough to share his story. He had us in tears.
- Chris NusbaumDecember 29, 2013Educational and inspirational experience for all. Be sure to get an identification card from Guest Services on the 1st floor. Then check out all 4 floors. ID cards available in Braille as well.
- Brandon CainAugust 9, 2015The most missed museum! This is hands down the best/well thought out collection of history that I have ever experienced
- Lenny GalloJuly 22, 2016A very respectful and artistic experiential exhibit for those looking to know more about the horrors of the Holocaust. Must do in DC.
- Byron WilkesDecember 15, 2015Some of the footage or photos may disturb you, but it's important to make yourself bear witness (as Eisenhower did) so we as humans can make sure these kind of atrocities don't happen again.
- Carolina RevillaSeptember 7, 2014Amazing museum, beautiful and touching. Recommend it to everyone, although it might be too graphic for small children.
- Great experience to understand the horrible costs of prejudice and hatred. We can all learn from these lessons and also celebrate those who stood up to those who committed those atrocities.
- Missy MixonApril 3, 2013Military, including retirees, may get tickets to the permanent exhibit (for entire family) any time by visiting the information desk even if all tickets have been distributed for the day.
- Sari MillmanJuly 28, 2013Amazing museum. Absolutely a must-see in DC. Everyone needs to be educated on this horrible time in history and ensure it never happens again.
- Krysten HarperJanuary 1, 2013Awesome place. Make sure to check out the exhibit on the bottom floor. It's called Remember the Children: Daniel's Story. Built for kids, but don't let that stop you. It's great for adults, too.
- _November 6, 2014Get there a few minutes before the museum opens to beat the extremely long line. Try not to be bummed out for the rest of the day.
- Kelly WheelerOctober 12, 2014Great place for reflection. However, the upper level gets crowded at times, so much so we missed most of first section.
- Gabriel HayesAugust 28, 2015A very emotional museum experience. Give yourself plenty of time because you don't want to rush through.
- Bobbi PApril 28, 2013If you're planning on seeing other sights the same day, stop in early for the Permanent Exhibit tickets, then come back. The tickets are gone fast. Very moving, somber. Important.
- Kim ComptonMay 12, 2013An extremely moving museum..spent my whole visit fighting back the urge to cry. Daniel's Story is a great way to introduce kids to the atrocity of the Holocaust.
- Greg PattersonMay 18, 2014Very moving museum. Be sure to view the permanent installation and the story of the children. Sadly it's disrespected by the various student tour groups. Avoid them to truly experience the museum.
- Ann Marie BJune 8, 2010A must-see museum in the District. Prepare to be emotional throughout the exhibits. If you have a military/govt ID, you get an immediate pass. Tip: read everything & take in as much as you can.
- Ryan KDecember 29, 2014What is there to say that hasn't been said. Though as far as museums go, there's a lot of reading and video watching. Not many displays.
- Victoria RamettaJanuary 19, 2014This is a D.C. MUST SEE. Ive been to numerous holocaust memorials and this is by far the most powerful and insightful. Don't go on the weekend - it's too packed and people are disrespectful
- Sierra BarkdollMarch 30, 2016Place is really interesting and really helps u to understand the horrors of the Holocaust. Loved it
- Penina MezeiJune 24, 2014If you are into history, than this is surely the place to visit. I hope that everyone sees this Memorial Museum someday... - Penina Mezei
- Dennys BisognoAugust 10, 2014One of the most emotional and humble places I have ever been. Anyone that goes to DC *must* visit to gain perspective of what people are capable to do
- AbhishekJune 8, 2014Do not miss visiting this place if you are planning your DC trip. Excellent exhibits.
