Even if you don't love the movie (fyi, I love it), this is a really fun area of California Adventures. Shops and food and rides are all great, and it's very densely populated.
The neon lighting ceremony is "when it gets dark"
Wait until 2016 for Radiator Springs - or use the single-rider line. The line moves fast because most people travel in twos and fours, but the ride holds six.
Fast pass is a must. Get there as soon as you enter the park.

Get in line before the park opens & go straight to Radiator Springs Racers. No fast pass. We wait 5-20minutes tips every time. It's our first stop every morning. Best way we've found to beat the line.
Bring iPad. Watch both 'Cars' films while you wait in line.

The burger was amazing! If you want something spicy try the Udon Noodle Bowl.

Go over to the Poo Corner gift shop, ask for one of the plastic shopping bags. Now put anything you don't want to get wet - except the kids and enjoy the ride.
At Splash Mountain, put your enemies (or spouse) in the front of the boat--they get soaked!
The more weight in the front, the wetter you get. The more weight in the back, the better your chances at staying dry.
