Din tai fung is not a dim sum restaurant!
Be told the wait is 20 mins to 30 mins but plan on waiting 50 to 60 mins. Not worth the wait. Better dim sum on 106th
don't be deceived by the fact that this spot is in a mall. outpost of the Tapei original and the best dim sum I've had outside of Asia. soup dumplings are redonk.

Tried the Black Pepper and Soy Sauce Scallops [with extra spices], various tofu dishes like the Eggplant Basil and Tofu, Spicy Clams + Squash and Sweet Potato Stew

Make sure you try the brunch. Simply amazing. Dim sum is excellent, and the Crab Benedict is amazing.

Pork Belly Bahn Mi (sandwich) is delicious
Love the wonton noodle and pork dumpling. Great lunch spot. The pan fried dumping is also delicious.
Shengjian Bao is juicy delicious, but not crispy enough.

Upscale shopping (a la South Coast Plaza in Orange County) that is in a gorgeous part of town! Check out the equally stunning Whole Foods across the freeway too for some healthy sustenance!

For a yummy, authentic Japanese takeout meal, step to the left of the hot food counter and look for the free-standing bento box menu. They'll handcraft any of six bentos to go for just $7-$8.
Most groceries are avairable here, had to stop at Pet paradise to get good dog meet in this town
