With both Japanese and American influences, the menu spans sushi, miso-cured pork chops, sea urchin fettuccine, and hibachi-grilled beef tongue. It's rustic and refined at the same time.

Why is it called Berkeley Bowl? When I first shopped at Berkeley Bowl, they were at 2777 Shattuck Avenue ... a converted Bowling Alley! That's now Any Mountain sporting goods (nice deco facade too!)
Great tea selection (try the Lapsang Souchong!), a tatami mat drinking area, and staff that has more knowledge about tea than I knew existed.
Best place to sit down with a good book and some delicious tea. Super cozy!

Great produce selection -- especially produce you don't find often (Kishus!!! Yum!!!). Definitely will go back whenever I'm in Berkeley!

Looks small from the outside, but the back is very large. Beautiful light from the garden patio outside with even more seats. Outlets towards the corners only, Wi-Fi is decent.
