Benjamin Palmer: Fresh tofu, seaweed salad, super fun chirashi! Really nice place, pleasant.
DailyCandy: This comfy spot is as close to authentic Kyoto-style as you can get. Daily obanzai (tapas) is a must; the chirashi — a heaping bowl of sashimi, veggies, omelet, and rice — is one of the best around.
Amy Coates: The tonkatsu is perfect. Light and crispy on the outside, super tender and juicy inside, with the classic tonkatsu "bbq" sauce.

Cole Kennedy: Enjoyable neighborhood Japanese spot. I liked the pork katsu curry (pictured) and the gyoza, but the chirashi and nabeyaki udon also looked good!
Hallie Caplan: What a GEM! The lunch special is the best bet. If you are feeling adventurous try the fermented tofu (its a little nutty) but if not, the old standards for sushi are excellent, fresh and well priced.
BrooklynMuseum: Staff Pick! Stephanie (Education): Gen has high-quality, fresh sushi at good prices. The patio out back is a lovely spot for dining in the spring and summer. Enjoy the green or red bean ice cream.

Damien Basile 😈: The pork belly is AMAZING! Get it with the egg. You won't be disappointed.
