The running track around the park is exactly one mile long. It was just resurfaced in August, 2010, so is nice and soft for a runners knees...

Make sure to go leave the park and go up the stairs at Park University. Then go past the library and up the gravel path to the lookout. Absolutely stunning panoramic view of the Missouri River.

Don't buy the overpriced food in the park if you can help it. Get your hand stamped at the gate and head up I-35 to Liberty. There are tons of restaurants there along Hwy. 152.

One of my favorite KC parks... wonderful South Hyde Park neighborhood and family community. We were in this park daily when we lived here.
Great park to watch a game. Best park to NOT watch a game. So many places for kids to play and adults to drink out of sight of the field.
Go to the center field bbq place and order the Designated Hitter (brisket & ham) with cole slaw and beans. Best food/value in the park!

The trail is nice but beware ladies, the apartment complex to the north of the park houses 3 sex offenders & I have had a creepy encounter a couple years ago so be sure to walk w/a friend.

Asphalt trail is .2 of a mile. or eight turns for a one-mile hike. As always in dog parks, watch your step!

I LOVE that they have the park split between small dogs and big dogs. I think with the sun it’d be a bit better to have a larger pavilion to sit, but it’s an awesome dog park. We go often.
Parking is along the east side and north side of the park. Ideal place for your dog to mix and mingle!
Underwhelmed by this park. It does not appear to be well kept... No trash cans outside park means people hang plastic bags of dog poop on the fence. Small dog area has one water bowl and no trees.
This park is a disgrace to the city. The trash was unacceptable, the dog poop was all over the concrete. I have taken my daughter and our dogs here before but I think we'll stick to Johnson County.

Highly recommend- kids will enjoy Egyptian, Chinese and Ancient galleries, along with Sculpture Park. Rozzelle Court is a great place for lunch/snack. Mobile guide is wonderful to use with teens! Read more.
Rozzelle Court restaurant has great lunch. The Mideival Cloister in next room is incredible. Fantastic Asian Art wing with Buddhist temple. Enjoy the Sculpture Park & Glass Labyrinth on a nice day.

An artist owns half the park (hence the streetcar) and she does beautiful work with the wildflowers. The signs say strict leash laws enforced ..but most people let their dogs off- expect play time :)
