If you get the roast beef or similar, it is apparently traditional to discreetly tip the carver once he's served everyone. £1 or £2 should be OK.

Very good food. Had the beef roast. Ask for plenty of gravy beforehand as they seem to ration it and it gets kind of boring asking for more every 5 minutes.

I second, third the venison scotch egg! The roast beef for two looked great but no food envy here. The gurnard was lovely and lamb shoulder w haggis bites was delicious.

Not just the Alma but the new Alma. Nice ambience, food looks great. Shame that the big brewery's supplying the ales. Some quality micro brewery tipples would sit well here.

Delicious British dishes! The steak and kidney suet pudding was delicious, just how it should be made. Venison carpaccio was excellent too.

We were there for Sunday Lunch. We were told we could have our roast beef medium rare. When we were served it was a steak, medium rare but not roast beef. So be aware!
