Houston Press: Pappas Seafood is now a mini-empire, but the Lower Shepherd location doesn't feel like part of a chain after three decades in the same location, just outside of Montrose. Read more.
Christine Ha: Only come for the oyster special: $7/dozen for Gulf Coast. Comes with mignonette 👍🏼. Other food is meh. Long waits during oyster season.
Houston Press: Try the Rudz burger! It comes with the basics: lettuce, pickle, onion, tomato. But you can always jazz it up by ordering a basket of Nuts & Bolts on the side. (Go for the fried okra.)
The Most Interesting Man in the World: Aside from the 1997 Bullseye on the High Seas Championship, in which an errant throw lodged a dart into Captain Eagleton’s wooden leg, it’s rare to find a spot that showcases both darts and comedy.
Cody Harkins: Try the Rudz Burger, if you don't like it your next round is on me!

CultureMap Houston: The plates are huge and the side dishes are also very generous. The souvlaki and kebabs are some of the popular dishes. The fries are a must, and the lentil soup is quite good, too.
Bradley Olsen: Great food, large portions and fairly high prices for an order-at-the-counter place. But it's worth it.

Jarrod Blackmon: One of my favorite Austin places, so glad they opened up a Houston location! The Republican is delicious (if you love sausage) and so are ALL the breakfast tacos. My favorite taco place by far.
The Most Interesting Man in the World: I’ve never filled up on chips. But on a particular visit to this establishment, I came pretty close.
CultureMap Houston: The soda fountain includes Dublin Dr. Pepper (while it lasts) and other uncommon colas.
