British rail dismantled the South footbridge 17 years ago. So if you're waiting to catch your train on the wrong side of the barrier, you'll miss it -even if you run very fast :-(
Joe CJuly 5, 2012Fill up the Oyster card at the machine on the platform. You'll need either cash or a Chip and Pin credit card. American cards with a mag stripe will **NOT** work. (ask me how I know...)- Four trains to Waterloo each hour: around 4 past, 20 past, 34 past and 51 past. Frequency down to 2 on Sundays. The level crossing can be down for up to 20mn at once some times, more usually 12mn.
On a fresh sunny morning with only a few people on the platform, it's great to just stand and stare at the vegetable gardens
If heading to Clapham junction, you may find it quicker going to Richmond and then catching the fast.- A level crossing in the middle of a city. You'll be stuck a while.
Avoid it if you can... Well worth going a bit further to Richmond Station and avoid missing trains because of barriers being down endlessly!- Some say it's possible to catch a train when the level crossing barrier lifts. If you're called Usain Bolt, maybe.

The trains to Waterloo are every 15 minutes, at these minutes past the hour: 06, 21, 36 and 51.- Say 'morning to that lovely chap in the ticket office.
