Once a popular street snack in the 70s and 80s, putu piring is now far less common. Perfect molten palm sugar filling, should be eaten pipping hot. Queues long so grab a milo dinosaur from nearby

This Malay rendition of Kueh tutu has a less dense outer white 'shell' which melts-in-your-hand! Nonetheless, the Gula Melaka (palm sugar) centre is thick and fragrant. Best eaten when piping hot.

Their family recipe is from the 1950s. Double-steamed rice flour, with a molten gula Melaka centre, served with salted grated coconut. Source: Sunday Times

One of the most flavorful putu piring in Singapore, the sweetness of caramelized sugar is top notch, the texture and pandan are really good.

Legit stuff. It's hard to find good kuih tutu in Singapore. The santan is fresh. The gula melaka melts in your mouth and the cake holds well.

(3/5) Hawker stall inside the Haig Road Market selling putu piring: steamed rice cakes filled with palm sugar and topped with coconut and pandan leaves. Worth trying as something different/unique.

Putu Piring is amazing. This is the Malay version using gula malaka and coconut made by a Malay family.

The best snack to have on a cool weather is this steaming hot tutu kueh. 3 for $1. Waiting time can be quite long but worth it.
