If you are coming from the states, and taking a train, be sure to ask a person at the ticket booth for help purchasing tickets. The machines really don't like US credit cards.
Concourse D is a bit old and unfriendly. Would advise to stay after the passeport control area and enjoy the lot of places to stay before going to your gate.
My fellow cloggies, 3 things to improve: more seating arrangements in the departure area, less cramped and slow customs clearance and waiting 30min for your luggage is not good enough! You can do it!
Picking people up from arrivals costs money, one can actually pick up people from outside departures only when timed right. Parking prolonged at departures is not allowed and strictly enforced.
In case you need to check your connection flight after you land here, there are no flight boards. Look instead for rows of machines where you can scan your ticket and find out your gate number.
Been flying thru here for years. Overall boarding, regardless of airlines, always seems chacotic and unorganized. Otherwise a wonderful airport for long layovers.
KLM "automated" bag check is the slowest & most agonizing I've ever experienced. Allow even more time than you normally would since you get funneled through it even if you checked in online
Huge airport, security very close to boarding gates for US flights and is after boarding, so shop and eat before you go through security, can't do it after security
Come early for departures outside the EU, especially if you're not an EU passport holder. You go through border control first and then security at the gate for most flights. Can be very slow.
