From the museum’s copper-clad torqued tower, you can see the Transamerica Pyramid, Sutro Tower, and the top of the Golden Gate Bridge. The tower’s café serves food sourced within a 150-mile radius.
Take the elevator in the European Sculpture and Decorative Arts galleries up to the Roof Garden Café and Martini Bar. It’s open from May through the fall and offers panoramic views of the city.
The hefty $20 admission fee is justified by the impressive collection, but consider going on Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., when admission is free (you’ll have to fight the crowds).
