A Brooklyn centric list of the best New York coffee shops to work out of, to accompany a Fast Company article (http://bit.ly/11mamrG). - Wesley, GNTLMN.com
1. Ground Support
GNTLMN: A wonderful place to meet creative and interesting people. Always packed, good treat, so-so wi-fi on really busy days.
2. Café 474
GNTLMN: Quiet, tiny, right by the subway (F/R/G). Great staff, solid tea offering, great little sandwiches.
3. Red Horse Café
GNTLMN: Smallish, comfortable, with a staff that relentlessly curates a strong indie soundtrack overhead, sometimes of the 90's variety. Good food, solid wifi.
4. Tea Lounge
GNTLMN: Massive, packed, loud, but somehow awesome. A great variety of patrons, open til midnight, and even later on weekends.
5. Café Select
GNTLMN: No wifi, BUT best staff, best food, and GREAT foot back to back meetings. Try the Salmon Rösti. Secret bar in back of the kitchen on some nights.
6. Central Cafe
GNTLMN: Great wifi, great coffee, great staff. Out of the way, and therefor more of a neighborhood haunt of the authentic persuasion.
7. House of Small Wonder
GNTLMN: Discover this one for yourself.
8. Max Caffé
GNTLMN: For the UWS crowd, including Columbia students. Pleasant, good coffee, good wifi.
9. Ace Hotel Lobby Bar
GNTLMN: Gorgeous, and filled with tech folks having meetings or coding away. Expensive when it comes to dinner/drinks time.
10. Cafe Grumpy
GNTLMN: Famous in the coffee shop working community long before it became famous through HBO's Girls. Greenpoint haunt with top coffee and tea, big tables, pleasant vibe.
11. Think Coffee
GNTLMN: Insanity of the NYU variety, but with a great vibe. Solid lunch options, great environment with Washington Square Park right outside for walking meetings.
12. Tazza Bakery Enoteca
GNTLMN: Quiet, with no-laptop rule during certain busy hours. GREAT pastries, great coffee, great lunch bites, and near the waterfront for walking meetings.
13. Vineapple Cafe
GNTLMN: Quiet, huge, out of the way. Great spot for brainstorms and focus sessions, but also for meetings.
14. Kos Kaffe Roasting House
GNTLMN: Big, great food, coffee roasting done right there (which can be noisy), good internet, good seating, huge windows to stare our of longingly. Try the kale salad.
GNTLMN: Quiet, outdoor seating when the weather permits. Good for creative work.
