- The area over by tracks 36 to 42 is never crowded even during rush hour. The Biltmore Room has a flower stand, large shoe shine station & news stand. Lines for the ticket machines tend to be shorter.

- There's a few places to sit in the dining concourse. But those areas can sometimes be closed off.

- The ticket machines across from tracks 31, 32, and 33 almost never have lines: the machines near 42nd St always do.

- The rose petal champagne gelato from Ciao Bela, though seasonal, is to DIE for.
- Grand Central is one of the oldest US train stations still standing. Unequivocal beauty and amazing architecture. Even if you're not going anywhere go inside and just look around!

- Expecting a crowded Metro North train? Check for cars *behind* the stairs/ramp - they're likely to be empty, even if the cars towards the front of the train are packed.
