This is my favorite place to visit in Pittsburgh! I highly recommend the encounters/trainer for the day. They are worth every penny. You get up close to the birds and the staff is fantastic!!

This is a great aviary. Multiple open air rooms allow you to get great looks at the birds. The Bald and Sea Eagles are a must see, who knew birds could be that big? The penguins are fun, too.

Excellent place. So many amazing endangered birds. Get up close with a sloth or a bunch of penguins. A really fun place to go with your significant other if they like birds.

The owl event was really cool, as was the experience of waking right up to a variety of tropical birds... Be sure to listen to the kookaburra, it had me cracking up.

Looked up this place on Google and almost didn't visit because of negative reviews. I'm glad we did though! This place is great. There are a ton of birds to see and interesting demonstrations.

Best picture is probaly either the bald eagle or the Baringer Sea Eagle. The Sea Eagle is overwhelming in size when you see it up close. Awesome place. I love it!

Did you know? The aviary has more than 600 birds from around the world, many endangered or threatened in the wild. It was one of the first zoo’s to feature its collection in free-flight rooms. Read more

Penguin Point is the coolest interactive exhibits anywhere. Pop up next to a penguin and check him out up-close. Or stick around and watch a feeding. These guys are worth watching.

I've lived here for 29 years and have never been to the Aviary. Just went this week and it was awesome. Beautiful birds and beautiful displays here.

Had a great time during my visit. A lot of exotic and endangered birds that you can get up close and personal with.

Live feeding was pretty cool, just make sure someone has a camera to catch a picture of it if you get picked to help

I'm actually really impressed by the chicken tenders and fries. They're actually surprisingly good. Tenders were juicy and fries were definitely better than average.

Wasn't sure what to expect, but this place was a pleasantly surprising hit with my girlfriend and I. Worth checking out for sure!

Maybe it's because I'm older, but I really only enjoyed watching the penguins and the sloth feeding. The rest of the Aviary itself was pretty boring. Perhaps it's better for little kids.

If you have a membership at your local zoo, check and see if they have a reciprocity agreement with the National Aviary and you may be able to get discounted admission!

The kids love the live feedings. Located right across from the historic Mexican war streets.

On Pittsburgh's North Side, the aviary was built on the site of an old Civil War prison. It is said that the ghosts of the former Confederate prisoners roam through its halls.

In the tropical room, there are blue pigeons the size of a small dog. Try to get close to them, they are really entertaining.
