Fun “North Pole” trip around Christmas for young ones. The museum style “exhibit” in separate building is pretty basic but collection of trains at station is cool.

Knowing that explosives would not work when digging the tunnel because of the limestone, the tunnel was dug with pick and shovel. To learn more about the railroad and tunnel, watch this C-SPAN video. Read more

There's another set of bathrooms upstairs, directly above the ones on ground level. There's an elevator, too!

They don't keep track of how many tickets are sold. (!) Get out to the track early so you can get a seat.

The Missionary Ridge Local is the perfect "bite sized" excursion for younger kids, and it runs behind steam on Saturdays!
